I've been told that I need an Orthopedic evaluation for a job that I am applying for. I've also been told that the services will come out of my own pocket! I don't have insurance or a Doctor, so I'm not quite sure what to do. How much will this cost and where do I find someone who will do it without insurance? I live in St. Louis, MO!!

I'm gearing up to quit smoking the 1st of the year...(AGAIN) I once quit for 3 months, then suffered a trauma and started up again. Several of my friends have used Chantix and say it works. The worst for me will be in the mornings with my coffee sitting at the computer. Any tips you'd care to share are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

so i have scoliosis. my curvature is significant enough to cause pain but not so severe to require surgery.

when i remember, i take glucosamine/chondroitin supplements...and i think i feel better.

but anyway, do you know anything else i can do/try (non-prescriptive/illicit) to help feel "not so achy-breaky" ?

Hi I'm 14 male, 6 feet. I think that i have blood circulation problems. Everytime i go to my doctors we talk to him about the problem and he check my blood pressure and it is fine. When i play sports my face has always become very red. I know lots of people who become red when the do sports. I am not so worried about this. Another problem I have is that while playing sport my hands become amazingly red. When i put pressure on them the become sheer white. I also have a problem that my hands become really blue/purply and my hands are really cooled. I also have resolved to sleep with thing gloves and big woolen sock to go to bed. Because when i woke up in the morning my feet and hands were really cold. I have never had any health problems. I was just wondering if anyone knows why this happens and if it has to do with my blood circulation and what I can do/take to solve it. If anyone knows what kind of procedure or doctor I should see would be helpful also. Thank You

In the age of computers and huge health insurance companies that records your health from birth to death, the invention of readily available non-emergency medical centers (aka doc in a box), and the vast available doctors in any large market ... is there any reason to have a ralationship with any one doctor anymore?

I have a problem with my fingernails. They are only about 1/4 inch long, but they are curling under. What could be the cause of this? I know nails curl under when they get really long, but mine aren't that long. It is only on 1 finger on my right hand and 3 fingers on my left hand. And idea why this is happening?

I have gymnastics in a couple hours but I have a cold and not going isn't an option. Right now i have a sore throat and a little bit of a runny nose and I had a sore throat all day yesterday. Not going to gymnastics isn't an option, but the only cold medicine I have is Children's Triaminic Thin Strips Night Time Cold & Cough. Is it okay to take this during the day before I go to gymnastics? I haven't rlly noticed it making me drousy before. I took it last night about an hour before I went to bed and it still took the usual 1/2 hour- 1 hour to fall asleep.

Well I understand that it is going to be tough but does anyone have any tips for getting to sleep? I've only been smoking around 4 years now.. since i was 16 and I don't think my mind has been off cigarettes for the last 48 hours. Laying down right now I feel like almost hypervenalating. What did you guys do to help you get to sleep? Why is it that when you quit the only thing you can think of are the bad things and the problems in your life?

I just got home from work and my daughter, who is two, will be up in about six hours. I don't do well with less than eight hours of sleep, but I'm doing what I have to do to pay the bills.

Hi, i'm a nursing student and I'm writing a paper. Part of it is nursing diagnosis by priority. I need a little help deciding which would come first... the pt has bipolar disorder..

-a. risk for suicide related to depression associated with bipolar disorder as evidenced by feelings that his family can’t deal with him anymore and he feels like “everyone is shitting on me”,
b. risk for violence directed at others related to manic excitement as evidenced by agitated behaviors,
c. defensive coping related to an inadequate level of perception of control as evidenced by grandiosity and argumentative behavior,
d. chronic low self-esteem related to shame and impaired self-appraisal as evidenced by hypersensitivity to slights of criticism, and
e. impaired memory related to neurologic disturbance as evidenced by incidences of forgetting information caused by Electroconvulsive Therapy.

The " risk for" ones confuse me, because if it's not happening now... shoudl it be priority?

...the policy if you keep up the payments? Do you have to be approved as a new policy holder or can your previous status remain in place? If you had to be approved as a new policy holder, despite having been under the insurance before, could you be denied coverage for an existing medical condition, even though you received coverage for it when you were covered under your partner's plan? Has anyone had experience with this sort of situation?

My boyfriend has never been able to swallow pills and he's too stubborn to even try. One friday after eating alot his stomach hurt and i gave him two pepto-bismol pills. I had to cut them up into little pieces and then put them in water just so he could take them. I was thinking of getting like sugar pills or something so he could practice. He can't even do liquid pills. he taked tylenol liquid when he is sick, which isn't often, but he does get an upset stomach and headaches often. This is bad. He can't even swallow soft noodles whole!

How can i help him?
