I have a friend who has been in a coma for almost 3 weeks, but he is breathing on his own and not relying on machines to live, except for feeding. Yesterday, he opened his eyes and mouth, it looked like he was trying to talk but nothing but drool came out. He has been in a coma for a long time...will he survive this? If he opened his eyes, is he still considered to be in a coma?

I don't get drunk or obnoxious and it doesn't upset my wife, but I have more than the recommended amount, and I have expensive tastes (fine ales, single malts, vintage ciders). I would like to drink less but seem to just be in a rut with it or something.

I fell in lake in 2003 I was rushed to Hospital them Knowing I was seizure disorder,They had left me unattended with bed rails down I had went into a seizure and the bed,surgical tray and pump fell on me causing me to have surgey done on ancle after 8 months of pain before now since this happened I've had alot of memery loss,back pain ect...

I've tried many pain meds, but they are all derivitives of codeine, which I'm allergic to. Vicodin, Percoset, Phentynal, Oxycontin are all from codeine.
Anything else you know of that is not related to codeine?

My husband woke up from falling asleep on the recliner and has since then had severe pain from his neck down his left arm for about 3 weeks now. we went to the emergency room and they did a EKG to rule out his heart it was fine. Gave him pain meds and muscle relaxers but still having pain.

How do you know if you have carpal tunnel in your hands versus arthritis? What's the difference? How do they feel different?
I'm 19 and my hands have been cramping up and hurting terribly. I get sharp pains in my hands and have absolutely lost all strength in my hands; I can't even open a soda bottle. This has been going on for quite some time, but the older I get the worse the pain gets.
I'm not sure if it's carpal tunnel or arthritis because I don't really know the difference between the two.

I remember getting this vaccination when I was younger (and I remember it hurt like hell) and it left a scar. Looking on the internet I have read that it normally leaves a scar, but not one site I have found has explained WHY.

I am starting to get sick of being uncomportable all the time. we have tried so much to help bring my labour on and even the sex bit. I was told by many people that If i were to have sex that I would go into labour that night. Still nothing. The walking hurts lots. My knees ach from squatting. I get heartburn with spicy food. So the only other thing I really havent tried yet was the castor oil. I was told that it will work and I was wonder if any know of any information or where I can find information on it. I can take the pain anymore.

had an operation last week to reconstruction on my left ankle ligament. (antior- tatlo ligament) got a cast for 9 week, but told not to put weight on for the first 3 weeks, which i recently slipped on my injured foot in a plantaflexion postion but on the all the weight went on the outside of my big toe and now i'm getting really starting to get bad pain on the inside of my ankle along the metarsal - what should i do?

I touched something that had rubbing alcohol on it and then rubbed my eye then i rinsed out my eye with cold water and it is still red, will this cause serious problems, should i consult a doctor. will my eyes be ok, what can i do to help my eye??!(it was lucky a very small amount of alcohol0. so hopefully it won't be an issue.

What can lack of it do?

I have an on going debate with my girlfriend about this. Here's the argument:

She say's that its considered substance abuse when you take Nyquil when you ARE NOT sick and are just using it for the benefit of sleeping enhancement. I believe it is okay to drink Nyquil even when you are not sick just so you can fall asleep better.

So, I would like to know if this would be considered substance abuse or not?

Ok im in a drug rehab and had to take a test at my last meeting. Although i have done absolutely no drugs the test came back positive for benzos. To be quite honest I dont even know what benzos are. I do know it is a pill, but what kind? The only prescribed med I am taking is voltaren and I really dont think that it is a narcotic. Pills werent even my drug of choice so if my test was positive it wouldn be for that. Can some one please tell me if the voltaren could have caused a positive result for benzo.

I've been awake all night, luckly I don't have to be at work tomorrow, but does anyone have any tips on getting some sleep? I'm now wide awake and don't know why, I lay there all night and eventualy at around 6am I got up made myself tea and came on here.
