I have a viscoelastic foam mattress that really helps my fibromyalgia pain. VF is very supportive and responsive to contours because it responds to body heat. It gets really warm in winter, which is good. Problem: It also gets really hot in summer, which is bad. Right about this time of year I switch it for a regular mattress, which is cooler but not so supportive, and I know I can expect to wake up stiff on it, as opposed to limber but steamed on whichever side I slept on, and dazed with heat. I wonder if there's a better way...

Does anyone know of a kind of mattress that is very supportive but does not heat up with the sleeper's body heat?

She is a trooper. But I feel so sorry for her. She flinches when I touch the swelling and I have given her butte for the pain. I wondered if cold packs or heat would make it feel better for her?
She is eating ok. She was given to me and I just want her to live her life out in peace.

I am a gymnast and living abroad right now. Shortly before I left I injured my knee by landing on it on my floor exercise. The doctor said it was probably bursitis. I was on crutches for almost a month and wore a stabilizing brace, but now I'm abroad and can't see an orthopaedist for another month. My knee is causing me a lot of pain when I put any weight on it or bend it. I rest as much as possible and ice it for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off as often as possible, as well as take ibuprofen regularly, but nothing seems to help. Anything I can do to make the pain bearable for another month?

I'm 19 years old and my knees and legs bother me constantly. When it gets cold outside, i feel as if the veins in my legs are going to burst. My knees are constantly cracking everytime i bend down. My two other sisters are dealing with the same thing and my mom has severe spider veins. It's probably genetic. Is there any way I could maybe reverse the clicking and aching before it gets worse? HELP!

I have had acid reflux for about 8 years now. It started when I was drinking a Pepsi and the bubbles expanded in my throat, causing severe pain. The heartburn started pretty much right after that, but I had chest pain associated with it for about 4 years. This past year has been the worst for the pain. The doctor has me on omeprizole and it really helps the heartburn. I have been taking it for 3 months and still have chest pain.

What can be the problem causing the pain and is there any treatment?

Seen an optromistrist and optician and no one can find anything wrong with the eye

Pain in right eye and then it waters profusely. Once the water has gone the eye eventually settles down and the pain goes. Takes about an hour or longer and then calm till the next time.

Eye is not red nor inflammed.

Can it be computer? Eye strain? Wrong prescription for glasses? Any thoughts welcome. It occurs most at around 4am and so I am losing sleep. G

We have a child with growing numbness to pain in his right arm. In two years, it has gone from a 2" wristband to a span between the nuckles and the elbow and literally does not hurt. Otherwise, the arm is fully functional. However, he has recently also started having black outs in his right eye, causing falls. We took him to a neurologist who says the initial eeg is clear and is calling it migraine syndrome, but he would not take a full history to include his father's childhood epilepsy. Does migraine syndrome cause numbness in the arms or legs?
Does anyone know what might cause this?

Everything I've read said something about chest pain. This was not chest pain. It's pain in the right side almost up under the armpit and and in my upper back. It HURT so bad to just try to breath normally-and trying to take a deep breath made it worse. It feels like my right lung. I was only sitting as a passenger in a car, nothing strenuous.

Last year the doctor gave me an inhaler-she said I was wheezing (news to me). So, when I got home tonight I used the albuterol/inhaler thing-and it's helped the pain subside. This is my 3rd/4th time experiencing this pain, which is so bad I don't even want to breathe. I'm not sure if I should even bother going in to the ER when it happens, but tonight it was so bad I almost went in anyways.

I have other medical issues going on which also have not been diagnosed yet-pain in hip/leg/pelvis, which ONLY gets better when I am not overly active-standing or walking too much(or driving). I have not worked for two years because of it. Any Ideas?

Well, I really have no problems staying asleep, but I do have problems going to sleep at the same time every night.

I can go to sleep one night at 9:00 pm and the next night I could fall to sleep at 3:00 am and not be able to go back to sleep at 9:00 pm.I want to be able to go to sleep at the same time every night.I know it's possible because I did it everyday while in public school. Now I am in Private school so I don't need to worry about that stuff, but it still makes me miss a lot of sunlight.Any tips on this one?
Thank you

I have a persistent fever that won't go down with medicine. I work nights so when I got off work Friday morning I felt chilly so I took my temperature, 101 degrees, I had a sore throat all night at work but didn't think anything of it. I took some ibuprofen and went to sleep. When I woke up the fever was gone and I was drenched with sweat, so I know it got to the breaking point. I didn't have a fever from when I woke up at five until about 9 30. It was 99.5 I took some tylenol this time and waited a few hours, took a cool bath and took it again about 1230, it was 100.8 again, I took some ibuprofen and checked it about 230 and it was 101 degrees. Any advice on what I should do without have to go to the doctor (last resort).

about six months ago, my 14 year old cousin died in his sleep and the doctors could not figure out what happned so they said it way a sudden arrhythmia death syndrome. Since the disease can be inhereted through DNA, i went to the emergency as soon as my heart was beating fast. The did an ECG and said everthing was normal. The also tested my cousin's younger siblings and found no signs. Now, i am having a hard time breating at night and my heart is beating VERY fast. Everytime i try to sleep, i wake up thinking that i am having a cardiac arrest. I am mostly scared because the sudden death often happens to teenagers and i am 15 year old. I am scared to death but my parents do not take me seriously and the doctors don't eitehr! what are my chances of inhereting the disease from my cousin?

While wrestling, I took a shot on my friend at practice, and he sprawled onto my back. When he did, my knee bent awkwardly and i heard a loud pop. And I kept wrestling afterwards, because i didnt feel much pain. The next morning i woke up, and I could barely get out of bed. Right now i can walk fine, and RARELY feel pain. But i wrestled with a friend today, and felt pain, even though i thought it was healed. So can anyone please, PLEASE tell me if i'll need surgery, or how long it should take(max time it should take to heal)? Because im really worried right now since I might not be able to play football next year

I've had these terrific, painful cramps and/or spasms in the tops of my feet and can't find out what is causing it. I have read about MORTON'S NEUROMA as a possible cause, but can't get any doctor to do the test needed to see. I have the characteristic tender pain between the 3rd and 4th toes (at one doctor's appointment, he pressed down on the top of my foot here and left a bruise that lasted almost a month), the tingling, etc. connected with it, but no doctor is willing to do surgery on my feet to correct it because I have flat feet and arthritis in the soles of my feet as well. I can't take this pain much longer.
