General Health Care - April 2007

I'm an RN looking to move into the area of Emergency Nursing and looking to purchase a text to do basic study from. Can someone please recommend the most popular or well used text in this area? Thanks, Ben.

With all the pain mangements that are available, Why does a person that has all the documentation and MRI,s are put through the 3rd degree when trying to obtain a doctor that will be able to write the medications they need. When all some people have to do is claim they were hurt in a wreck or at work and they have no problem getting what they think they need?

I have no idea what I am doing... but i do know that I have grwn a tolerance for perscription drugs. I am interested in this only for medical purposes but I dont want to get in any trouble. Does the risk out weigh the benefits? Can anyone tell me if I have stuff shipped to my home - what is the risk?

This involves the hand/wrist area where an IV was inserted . Should you have pain moving up the arm,swelling, soreness and tenderness all of which seem to be getting worse; and a lump or knot under the skin around the IV site? It's been a week since surgery. I'm concerned. Please all of you knowledgable people out there do you have any idea of what this is and what can be done about it? Please help!

I get a very loud deafening pounding in my left ear when I am in minor pain. I have had it happen before and I assumed everyone had this. I scratched my eye recently and everytime it started stinging when I blinked I would get that same odd pounding noise in my left ear. It's like someone is thumping my ear drum. I told my husband and he just looked at me flabbergasted. Maybe someone knows.

I have a soreness/pain in my lower stomach muscles when I laugh or cough.....it started yesterday, but has now spread to the muscles along my sides. They are tender to the touch and it hurts to get up out of the bed or a couch. I have been careful about what I am eating today. Mostly soup and toast.

Here are some details:

1) I have moved my bowels a lot more than usual over the past few days and am thinking I may be sore from this.

2) I have not excersized over the past few days so it's not from that.

3) I am trying to get pregnant and may possibly be about 2 weeks, (may or may not) but this feels extreme for that.

Any ideas????? Seem familiar to anybody???

It was a purple lolipop, and tasted like berries. It made all the pain from my migrane go away. You can only get from a prescription, and some pharmacies don't carry it. You could take up to 2 lolipops and sometimes it made me feel light as a feather. It started with the letter A (i believe), and my new doctor can't figure out what it was. My old doctor moved out of state so I can't get a hold of her. My migranes are getting out of control again and that was the only thing that would work besides going to the hospital and getting shots in my rear end, which I hate!

Of course they're going to say vitamin supplements don't work, they can't make any money off of them, and doctors are nothing but pharmaceutical prostitutes anyway.

Yea, they're not quick to warn you of the many dangers of the plethora of poison pills they prescribe, but oh, those vitamin supplements....Unbelievable.

I got a sunburn pretty bad last Sunday, I was really red until about Thursday. I am now peeling severely, and very itchy, but I am having really bad chills. I am shivering, can it be from the sunburn still?

Right in my crack...almost to where it starts near my back. It hurts to sit unless i sit straight up. I cant lean back a little. hurts pretty bad. As funny as it sounds I checked it out in the mirror...looks like a tiny hole there. lol I know some people who have had systs removed from this area. Anyone know anything about it?

I was hand cuffed and lead around by the officer pulling upward on my hands (very painful). Now I have constant pain in my shoulders and the doctor said it was rumatoid artrius caused by shoulder injury. I wondering if any one elese had simular problem and if I should sue the police.

The pain started at about 8:30 PM today. I haven't done anything to my jaw, but whenever I try to eat, my left side hurts. It doesn't hurt when I open and close my mouth, but only when I open my mouth to eat. I can't chew at all. It doesn't look dislocated or anything, so why does it hurt and what can I do about it? last night i went to the loo and got that horrid feeling of cystitis!! it kept me up most of the night couldnt sleep with the horrable urge to pee even tho i was empty! woke up at 6 and aint been to sleep since,i been drinking cranburry juise but its not helped what else could help.also what would of made me get it?? i dont drink alcohol?,could it be my diet?also as the day has gone on i have been having blood in my urine
