Oh sweetie I really feel for you. My boyfriend had his out about a year ago and it was awful. The older you are the worse it feels and the longer it takes to recover. He was 25 and it took him about 2 weeks to recover. The first 5-7 days were the worst for him. Here are some things that he swore by....liquid tylenol put in the refrigerator so it feels good when it goes down, applesauce, popsicles, juice, water, gatorade, over cooked white rice (so it gets mushy) and small pieces of chicken mixed in. He said the worst part was being hungry and not being able to eat solids, so he swore by the chicken and rice dish to get some protein in him. He also slept with a humidifier to keep moisture in the air. Ice cream tends to cause phlem in the throat and can actually make you feel worse. Good luck. I hope you feel better!

Stop worrying and toughen up.Jeez, I had mine out at 30 years old. I was awake while they did it and left the hospital within 45 minutes from having them removed. They bleed profusely on the way home but I continued anyway. When I got home I did lay down for a while and it stopped. I went back to work inseminating cattle the next morning and went about business as usual. It's going to be sore for a little while but certainly shouldn't be stopping you from doing your normal stuff at all. Just wanted to add that when you look in your throat at this point if it is healing properly you should see real thick yellow stuff on the throat. That is normal and means it is healing real good.

It can take about 1-2 weeks to recover from the surgery but I would also recommend letting your parents know as well as tell the dr what is going on so that they are aware.

depends on how old you are when you have it done....i was 18 yrs old and it took about 10 days to be pain free and another couple of days til i could eat regular food but i was also in hospital for 5 days after (they cut my throat when they scooped them out)...i heard that if you have it done when you're young its way easier...i feel for you...good luck

Mine didn't hurt that long, so not sure? Were there any complications during the surgery? Check with your doctor to be sure.
