I have a friend at work that didn't know what a hot water bottle was until I told him yesterday. He claims that makes me a citified softie. My argument is that a hot water bottle is a country device since country people work harder that city people, and thereby need the bottle to ease aching muscles. So please, this is an uncontrolled study. Knowledge of hot water bottles? Use of hot water bottles? Do you consider yourself a city-slicker or a country-bumpkin?

He has had back pain going on two years now and is scheduled to get a cat scan tomorrow. He THINKS the back pain is from something that is wrong with a disc. Sorry these terms are not technical, I am not exactly sure how to describe the problem. He also says that his hands and arms are numb. He is in Iraq and they won't send him to get an MRI unless they absolutely have to.

Question is, would a cat scan reveal anything to the doctors?

i fear for my grandchildren. my daughter and son in law and 3 grandchildren live with my son in laws parents. the house is disgustingly filthy, they have lots of cats and dogs. the animals do their business where ever they want in the home and the cats constantly scratch the babies. the brother in law is always hitting the kids, the house is a single family home but yet has 9 people living in it. the kids do not have their own room. nobody works in the home but my daughter. when i sit for the grandkids they always have bruises. there is no smoke detectors in the home. the home is very old and they don't even have a carbon monoxide alarm. my daughter and son in law are not the problem, the in laws are. my daughter makes sure they have food, clothes and keeps up on the medical and dental for them. they are seen reguarly by doctors. due to living under these conditions the children can't even talk. they are 6,3 and1. the father in law wont let them move. he said he will take kids away.

I have never had an injury there and cannot decide if it is an inflammation of muscle tissue, or lining of bone or body cavity. It feels better after a bath or a night of sleep.

I just posted another question about skin grafts, but anyway here she goes..
Is it necessary to get a skin graft once you have recieved a bad burn? The doctor says i may need to get one but is it absolutely necessary to get one or is it just to make the scar not as bad?

I've heard that curry is a anti inflamatory, and that you should eat it when you have achy joints. Is that true?

I'm asking because my boyfriend isn't feeling well, and his joints are really achy so I'm trying to find anything that will help him.

Thanks for all your help, if you have any other suggestions please let me know. :D

My friend is young 23 years old, and he broke his tibia/ fibula.

He had a cast to fix it (although it should only 80% alignment), but the doctors said after 10 days that he will have to go for surgery.

What could have gone wrong? Was the cast not made properly? Or did he put pressure on his right leg when he was told not to do it?

So, the other day at work, I turned around(not too fast) and got really dizzy then got a headache above my left temple that kinda spread down. I felt a pain in my ear and it felt like my throat was closing and then it all went away, but; returned a few times for the next 3 hours. It was so wierd....anyone think I should be worried or just think it was a wierd episode?

when my friend had a fracture, they proceeded to give him a pain killer in the hips which he insisted he wanted in the arm.

But they insisted, and when I protested they asked me to leave the room.

why do doctors insist on giving a shot in the hips when it can as well work in the arm?

I used to take oral mezalazine as I have Ulcerative Colitis, but after I realised that they were the cause of my severe headaches I had to stop. At that time I had a bad back too and after stopping the mezalazines the back ache eventually cleared also.

After a year or so my doctor wanted me to try Pentasa Suppositories that have mezalazine in them. He said as they are inserted in the bowles where they will act directly on the inflamation I would not suffer from the usual side effects assosiated with the oral medicine..

However, since I began to use the suppositories, I have been having regular headaches again and what I have found to be most odd is that I have the bad back agai too.

Could the mezalazines really have been the cause of the back ache? And are they the reason I have headaches again?

During the winter, I was working outside in the cold at night and I went into a booth at a parking lot with a space heater to get some sleep. When I woke up, my body felt stiff. I went home and fell asleep. When I got up to go back to work, I couldn't move. I was so scared because it felt like I was paralized. My neck wouldn't turn, my arms were so sore, and my thighs were very painful. I eventually was able to get up from my bed with the help of my friend who I called. I was really scared something happened to me. I couldn't afford a doctor's visit so I tried to ride it out. After about a week, I felt the same. Everyday i would take a hot bath and just wrap myself in a few blankets to stay as warm as I can be.

Eventually it passes. it took almost two weeks to not feel any pain or stiffness. Has this happened to you before? If so, what did you do?

I have been getting a very sharp pain in my upper right chest area. This pain travels from the bottom of the breast area to the collar bone, and sometimes to my shoulder blade, but is the worst right below where the shoulder meets the collar bone. The pain lasts for hours at a time and happens maybe every week and a half. What could this be?
