I've never heard of this - I know that people that have extra weight up front(men with beer bellies and pregnant women) have a lot of back pain. So up front is a no no. Have you tried walking for exercise. My dad had back surgery and they immediately wanted him to start walking. Also be careful how you sleep - if you sleep on your back - sleep with pillows under you knees so you back will be flat.

Simply being overweight can cause back problems, why would you want to add extra weight by wearing a weight pack?? I suggest trying medical massage therapy and doing ab exercises (strong abdominal muscles make for a stronger back). Make sure you are doing them correctly because you could end up hurting your back. See your doctor.
