My boyfriend recently injured his knees by overexerting them during a bike marathon he didn't train well enough for. He has been taking glucosamine with Chondroitin and msm, doing some different leg stretches, and icing his knees (20 mins at a time) when they hurt. He has stopped bike riding for the most part, but is very active and plays soccer once a week, and participates in the occasional football game. He knows its better to rest, but there is really no way to stop him from continuing these activities (his choice, not mine). Does anyone else have any tips for knee pain or helping his knees heal faster? Preferably to people that deal with this particular issue.

I am having knee surgery in a few weeks. i dislocated my knee about 2 years ago and it is still messed up. they are cutting the tissue off the outside of my kneecap because it is too tight and is pulling my kneecap onto its side, and then they are cutting the tissure and muscle off the inside edge of my kneecap and reattatching it farther in because it is too loose. I have never had surgery before, and i was just wondering what to expect. has anyone ever had a similar surgery done? what was the recovery time? how bad did it hurt?
i might add that i am a very serious ballet dancer, dancing for about 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, so my knees are quite strong for my age. (i'm 15.)

i have a red small puffed part on my bottom eyelash of my right eye. it hurts when i close my eye & force it shut. it also itches. on my bottom eyelash its all red & the red small puffed part is towards the inside (next to my nose). my eye also starts to crust @ certain moments. & it hurts like someone punched me on my eye. this is not the first time it has happened. something similar happened a couple of weeks ago. but instead the red small puffed out part was on the outside of my eye. & it would also start to crust & it was harder to open my eye (like my eye was closing in). another similar incident also happened last year in the summer. but my top eyelid swolled up & kept closing in on my eye. everyone thought this one happened because of the abundant amount of chorlene water in the pool. & the other incidents happened cuz maybe i touched a cat & rubbed my eye. but i haven't been near a cat in so long, & that i can remember i haven't rubbed my eye, either.

Most nights i lay down to go to sleep and it's usually at least 30 to 45 minutes before i actually fall asleep. My mind is either going a mile a minute thinking of all sorts of things, most of them nonsensical, or I'm tossing and turning from left to right every 5 minutes or so because i just can't get comfortable!

It's not that I'm stressing over anything because my thoughts never revolve around any one thing; they're just random. It's like a burst water main that i can't shut off. :-(

Can anyone give me some advice before i go to see a doctor?

OH, i should mention this... i have a cousin who's a pharmacist. I mentioned this to him and he gave me some tablets to try whenever i felt like this. They worked like a charm and i really slept well. I researched them on the net and discovered that they were anti-epileptic tablets. They basically slowed down the electrical impulses in the brain. No wonder why they worked so well! (Epilepsy also DOES run in my family...)

I realize how convoluted this can all be. I've been in touch with several doctors, nurses, health-care agencies, and a Medicare rep. All I can say is the information I've obtained has been sketchy at best. Mom is in final stages of cancer and a related rare disease called amyloidosis. She requires full-time care now, and we've hired sitters to help us, but we can't do this for any length of time. She's not currently under hospice, although she certainly qualifies for that. Thank God pain management has not been an issue, but having people who can help take of her now that she is becoming totally bedfast is a major issue. Does anyone know who we can contact that might have some answers and help us wade through all this mess???????? If any of you have had any experience with home health care and Medicare, I would certainly welcome your input as well. Thank you!

I would usually get a migrained every few months or so, for a day and sleep would help. Well this past week I had a very stressful experience with my tires being slit on my new car, and vandalism, ect...ever since then i have had a migraine every single day. so severe and no tylenol or headache reliefs or even perks will help it go away. i dont wake up with it though, but it sets in a few hours later. im really worried and concerned, its bad. ...i dont know if its related to that stressful event or something else, but my gosh, should i be worried?

I've been to a chiropractor and massage therapist for over 3 years, nothing has helped. Who should I see to help my low back pain that keeps getting worse? If I stand too long in the wrong position, I find it hard to move again. When I've been standing too long and go to lay down, I feel like my back is on fire, it hurts so badly. What can I do? I'm a baby about needles, no needles!!

I don't completely understand health insurance as I'm still covered under my mother's.

When a person switches health insurances, what constitutes a pre-existing illness that they will not cover?

For instance, I'm on a few medications so will a new insurance company not cover those specific medications or any medication used to treat the overall condition?

If either case is correct, is it possible that a doctor can sign something that says the person must stay on that specific medication so that the insurance company must cover it?

For example: I have GERD and am on Prevacid and Reglan. If I change health insurances will they change the medicine to something else like Nexium or will they not cover any medication having to do with GERD at all?

Looking for a cream with no menthol as my daughter is either allergic to menthol or her skin is just too sensitive to handle it. Is there even a cream out there that works that doesn't contain menthol? Everyone I have ever used that actually helps contains it so. Thanks in advance for any good suggestions!

After jogging or walking on my treadmill using the incline I get this weird pulsing or spasm feeling all over my legs which slowly diminish after about 15 mins. The spasms don't begin until after I've stopped exercising and while I'm cooling down. Its not painful at all but I can't find anything about it on the internet as if others have this happen to them as well and if its a problem or not. I was just wondering if its normal or something that I should get checked out? Any info would be very helpful. Thanks!
