My mother always made us rub butter or margarine on our bumps and bruises to help them heal - and it really seemed to work! I know of others who do this too - but is it just an old wives tale or is there a reason it would be useful?

I have been in therapy for about a year now due to a rotator cuff infringement and bicep tendonitis. I just recently had surgery, again, on my left shoulder for the tendonitis. After about three weeks healing I started therapy again, and now my right shoulder has violent popping when I lift it at about a 45 degree angle. It is such a hard pop that it noticably jerks my shoulder. It only hurts depending on the position I am in when it pops. If anyone has been through this and can give me an idea of what is wrong and how I can fix it, please help.

A good friend of mine who has had a problem with heroine and other drugs in the past is in danger of relapse. I would really like to help him. I figured out he has been stealing pain pills from me (for a broken foot) and when I confronted him he asked me for help. He really has no money for a counsler and all I know to do is go to NA (Narcotics Annonomous) meetings with him for support. He says the meetings never really helped him before because people sit around and talk about doing dope. Is there any other alternative? In the DFW area of Texas?

I'm considering surgery for my very crooked back. I'm of course scared. I have a questions that my doctor hasn't seemed to answer for me...What do you look like after the surgery? Are you as stiff as a board? Can you move, possibly bend at all? Can you have sex? Lift your newborn out of the bassinet? Can you carry children with these metal rods fused to the spine? DOES ANYONE KNOW OF NEW PROCEDURES BEING DONE? If so where do I go? Anyone?

I have wanted to become a doctor since many years ago when my younger brother almost died, he was sent to the hospital due to a massive seizure, we spent many days in ICU and I watched the doctors work, I thought of the satisfaction they must get out of there jobs. From that point forward I have wanted to become a doctor. It has been 7 years, and am graduating this year room HS. My guidance counselor told me I don't have the stuff to become a doctor today, which has gotten me really down. Looking for any positive thoughts or comments that may help me decide if I should still pursue my dream or drop it like my guidance counselor suggest, I am just trying to find out if it was worth? and any tips/comments/adive from any doctors out there? Thanks very much

I dislocated my shoulder while playing hockey and I had arthroscopic surgery..then I reinjured it playing baseball and had open surgery. I'm on my third month of therapy and the doctor said I could probably play contact sports after 6 months.

I know the risk of falling and messing it up again so...do you think he'll let me snowboard if I'm careful?
