Why does the nurse sometime slap your butt before an injection there? Has anybody experienced this? What'd you do after?
It kind of freaked me out.

Why does the nurse sometime slap your butt before an injection there? Has anybody experienced this? What'd you do after?

I had to reply to your question because some of the responses really fired me up. Patois explained it correctly by saying it was a way to trick the nerves, however, all the people who said it was sexual harassment obviously like to assume the worst of a situation!! It just goes to show you how people are so quick to judge a nurse or a doctor as doing something wrong when it's something they don't know about instead of simply asking why they did something, so then they have a reason to sue. I hope you didn't take their advice and complain because they were wrong. However, I should say that the nurse should have explained what she was going to do before giving you the shot.

This is done to cause a reflex action of the muscles of the area.. the injection follows the slap, so the muscle is relaxed by that time. You also don't feel it either.

Im sure it did freak you out..It could be a possibilty that she was sexually harrasing you and if that is the case and you ddint like that she did it maybe you should take it up with a lawyer or someone.If it isnt that then it could be to take the pain away.To get your mind off of the needle going into you.also if its the same nurse everytime then it most likely is sexual harrassment.

Sounds a bit weird, maybe it takes the pain away. I have had shots in the arm and they dont slap you. could be classed as some kind of assault./sexual assault

to make it numb so you don't feel much pain. don't worry about it and don't freak the nurse out.

She wanted to feel your butt that's why. Maybe she found it attracting lol jk now don't freak out. It's sexual harrassment ^ ^ and she can be sued.

so you dont feel it, it will make your buttox hurt i guess so you dont feel the needle
