See an osteopath -- they specilize in bones and muscles.
You could have simply slept on it funny.

I have this condtion.
I have a torn rotator cuff, 50% tear through the tendon.
You probably don't have a tear, just a strain to the rotator cuff, however with overuse of the already strained tendon, it CAN tear.
You should avoid reaching behind you, (such as to grab something from the backseat of a car), apply ice to get the swelling and inflamation down, no heat, this will make it worse.
Rotator Cuff Tendinitis tends to get worse at night for some reason, so prop the affected side on an extra pillow at night.
Avoid repetitive movements with that arm until it is better.
If it does not improve, you need to see a orthopedic doctor to rule out a tear, which can only be diagnosed with MRI. The options for a tear are live with it and try not to strain the tendon further, go to physical therapy where a therapist can teach you excercises which strengthen the muscles and ligaments surrounding the affected tendon and avoid more strain and damage. The excercises are usually done with resistance bands and/or weight machines.
Another option is rotator cuff arthroscopic repair surgery.
I did not want to have the surgery; I have been to physical therapy twice for this condtion, and it was very helpful...but you have to continue to do the excercises at home.
Most important: NEVER reach behind you with one arm to grab something, this puts great strain on your rotator cuff.

Sounds like a strained rotator cuff. Go to the doctor.

i had a problem like that. went to see my MD. he gave me some pain pills and while the pills did help mask the pain, i still had problems. finally went to my chiro. he gave me an adjustment and not only did the pain go away, but my shoulder problem was fixed. i suggest seeing a chiro.

See your doctor, it might be arthritis or something. You really need to ask a doctor, not Yahoo Answers.

It is most likely bursitis or tendonitis.
