There are so many diseases causing joint pains and fever. The most common probably is the flu. Any other signs and symptoms you have?

The fever is causing the pain -- take a couple of tylenol, or generic of, and it will help reduce the discomfort.

there is something called rheumatic fever that presents with fever and joint aches.

it could mean that the joint is septic. sepsis is a type of infection & can become serious. but then this could just be inflammation too. if you are really worried see a doctor.
