I have 2 herniated discs in my back (L5/S1, L4). I've been injured w/o specific treatment for the discs for a year. It took 3 1/2 months for pain to go from my back to my leg (w/glute and hip pain developing steadily during that time). I've been decently, but not overly, active. Does it usually take that long?

Are there ever times when sleeping is actually detrimental to your health? Sometimes when I sleep too much I don't feel great.

A work colleague has terrible body odour it's obvious he does not wash his armpits, mondays they smell a bit but come friday they are FOUL. It's not just when you stand next to him it wafts all around the office making us heave. When we asked a manager to confront him he refused saying HE could get into trouble for being offensive........... apparently he could take the manager and the company to court for hurt feelings.............. its within his rights as a human to do as he pleases. Is this HUMAN RIGHTS/PC going mad.

My husband injured his knee while working 5 years ago.The doctor was ready to do surgery, then decided to just do physical therapy. His knee has bothered him ever since but alot lately. It was workman's comp,he changed employers. Now nobody covers this injury. The only way to heal is with surgery that nobody covers and he needs 6 months to recover. We cannot afford to be without pay and to pay $20,000 for surgery, unless we move to Europe :-) and file for banctruptcy....

Is there such a thing as a "small bladder"? I sometimes have to get up 5 or 6 times a night to pee. I've been like this my whole life and I'm only 25 years old.

I'm currently studying for the LSAT and I work part-time. I have this horrible habit of staying up late at night, like until 2 or 3am, but I'm not even studying during this time. Then I wake up around 7, and I work from 8am-1pm. My plan is usually to eat afterwards, then go study at the library. But somehow along the way, I get super sleepy, obviouosly from my lack of rest. Then I end up falling asleep ibn my car or in the library for a loooooong time. I hate this...its horrible. I know the obvious solution is to go to sleep sooner, and/or drink coffee. Does anyone know how I should force myself to go to sleep sooner at night? Do you guys have any other suggestions for staying awake so that I can study??? Please help me!!!

I stepped off the curb yesterday morning and compltely rolled my ankle outward. It hurt for a minute and then I was able to walk normally with just some soreness. By later that day I was in extreme pain and could not walk on it much. It still hurts alot today in the joint area, where the ankle and foot meet. But still no swelling. Is this most likely just a sprain?

I have been having lightheadedness, and fainting type spells for about 3 weeks. I saw the doc today. My bp while sitting was within normal range, but when I stood up it went to 148/98.. I've heard of it going low and causing fainting..but any ideas on this?

Also he did order blood work and a cardiac holter monitor.

Yesterday I wore a pair of sterling silver earrings. I took them out when I got home from work and noticed my left ear was a little red and swollen on the ear lobe. Today it is still very swollen and is even tender and swollen behind my ear on my neck. Any suggestions?

A month ago the side of my right knee went numb after a weekend long backpacking trip. A month later it wasn't better, so I went to the doctor. She said it could take up to 2 months to clear up and not to worry unless it got worse or changed somehow. Well a week later, my foot is starting to have the feeling that it is going numb. It is actually from the very bottom of my calf muscle all the way to my foot. I have an appointment with the doctor on tuesday of next week... just a few days away, but I am wondering if I should not push to be seen by the doctor tomorrow morning. It is not normal for apendages to go numb!
