Bladder problems?
Reading your question came immediately to my mind the idea of knowing if you are diabetic. Since this is a sickness that can be presented in very young people, it is very important that you go for a medical check up.
Then I went to check some more info in my books, and there is something indeed important: do you have a high frequency with small urinary volume or you urine a lot?
The only way to know that is to collect 24 hours urine and to bring it to a lab in order to detect the nature of your problem.
Depending on some necessary tests your doctor will be able to tell you the nature of your problem. Pays my attention that “you always have been like this” but nevertheless I think it is time to go for a check up.
I will write some possibilities to be excluded once you know if you are urinating more than 3 liters per day or not.
If so, is considered Polyuria, it is necessary to study the urine osmolality (substances concentrated in the urine) and once having this data, two groups can be made.
Low osmolality, can indicate that you are just taking too much water, have some problems in the Hypothalamus, or that you were born with hereditary renal cystic disease (cysts in your kidneys)
High osmolality: due to metabolic problems (diabetes mellitus included) and other quite less frequent problems.
The evaluation of your bladder tone will be done once other causes are ruled out.
To solve a problem, you need to be sure of why is this happening.
Do not accept your problem, it is not normal at your age, but certainly, there is a lot that can be done to help you out.
Watch out, what you have can be just a functional problem ( hypertonic bladder ) or anything else. Do not wait and risk to get sick of your kidneys or to suffer hypertension/diabetes being so young.
Just go to a doctor and follow his/her advices.

I think some people have a smaller bladder capacity than others. However if you are getting up 5 or 6 times in the night to pee that isn't normal. As you have had it all your life, it will probably be nothing serious but you should go to the docs. as they will prob be able to give you some meds. to stop you peeing so much. Apart from anything, the lack of sleep must get to you. Good Luck!

The condition is termed nocturia and is very common in over 50 patients having an enlarged prostate . You would seem too young for that diagnosis, but I would also consider diabetes which can cause frequent urination and thirst . . I would recommend a visit to a Urologist who can examine you for bladder malformation or growths which could cause incomplete emptying.

I'm 44 and have the same problem. Had it since I was mid-20's. Symptoms also include stage-fright and weak-stream. I've pretty much assumed it's an enlarged prostate and if not, then I have prostate cancer. Either way, I have no med ins. so I try and think positive and live with it.
