Go see an Orthopedist to get a complete exam and tests to see what is wrong. We are not doctors. You might want to hire help to do the heavy work and be a supervisor. You have obviously done some damage to your joints. You might need a career change. Go see an Orthopedist.

If you have not already left landscaping, I would do so. Go to a doctor and tell him about specific complaints you have. One of the first things he will probably do is take x-rays. You might also have to have physical therapy. I suspect two things you might have to do is to get good, supportive shoes and also learn stretching exercises from a physical therapist. Swimming also helps to loosen up joints.

For starters, go see an Orthopedist. 2nd, exercise. Strengthen your abs. They also help support the back. There is more to a healthy back than your back muscles alone. That said, also strengthen your back muscles and wear a back brace.
As for your knees, strengthen your quadriceps (squats, pulley weights and stairs, are best) and get a script for anti-inflammatories from your doc. You can take Aleve or 800mg Ibruprofen ("Ranger candy") till you get to your doc.
Finally, if you are carrying any extra weight, lose it.
BTW, DONT GO TO A CHIROPRACTOR!!!!

Write a landscaping book or do consulting to clients or other landscape companies. Depends..did you take it very passionately. Did you do great? If your attention to detail was awesome, chances are that someone is looking for you.

Get active - it is the fact that you quit that is causing problems. Your body got used to moving and being stuck in the recliner with velcro on your back is causing the problem. Not the fact that you used to be active.
