Generally dental offices can make payment arragements with you or you can get special credit cards that are used only for that purpose. Unfortunately you are either going to have to pay some money or owe some money. If you go to the emergency room they should see you, but you will get a hefty bill. You can also make an appointment with a doctor who is taking new patients and pay out of pocket, again either pay the bill or owe. Unfortunately there are not much options. Your city should also have a free or chep clinic somewhere, they usually entail you sitting for many hours waiting to be seen, you should be able to find a free clinic somewhere if you do not want to get billed at all. I know my town in California has one, my bf had to go becuase he broke his arm, he sat there all day and then someone x-rayed him and cast him. If you are perscribed a drug though, you are going to have to pay out of pocket, Most I don't thin can be more that 60 dollars, my bf also got strep throat and had to get a persciption he stopped taking the frist one before he was finished and had to get a different one, that one was the 60. Good luck and I hpoe you get better.

Don't panic...you can afford it, you just do not have the right doctor.....it is unclear whether you have insurance, but a book that will help you through this "healthcare maze" is "Healthcare for Less" by Michelle Katz. I found the book helpful to those that do not have insurance as well as those that do. This book will help you find the resources to get less expensive healthcare!!! It even point out that you can negotiate with a doctor!!!! I went to Barnes and Noble and picked up a copy. The author also has a website that links to www.amazon.com it is www.healthcareforless.us and will give you a direct link so you do not have to search for the book. I loved the book and keep it as a reference....hopefully it will work for you too!

Go to the Emergency room. Hospitals can not refuse you if you do not have insurance. I am a med student, I know this. You just have to set up a payment plan with them to pay every month until your medical bill is paid off. If all you can afford is a few dollars a month, then that is what they will take. No hospital can refuse you medical care!

If you happen to be a college student, most colleges have dr's. that see students free of charge each week, or you can always check with your local social services office. They offer medical coverage to low/moderate income people. There are many plans through their office. Also, check with a clinic, most cities have medical clinics that offer sliding fees based on your income.

Go to the County Hospital Emergency room...they can not turn you away and must at least provide at least minimum care

For future reference.......If it is a medical emergency you can go to ANY hospital but they will simply stabilize you and send you to county

Try contacting your local Deaprtment of Social Service for getting assistance with medical coverage

Good Luck

Usually there is a local gov't agency that can help you get health coverage if you can't afford it. You have to qualify but it does work. Call you local welfare office and ask them about health insurance benefits.

Search for non-profit and free clinics in your area. Or go to an urgent care facility or emergency room--they can't deny you treatment if you are really ill.
