Your human rights are ignored, like the right to live in a clean enviroment, he has the obligation to be clean when he starts to work in a collective..You should tell him about your problem..Now, he may be sick..Some people have this kind of problems, they can't take off the smell, it's like a desease..He may take a shower every day, but the smell is still there...So, you should tell him about the problem that you have, you and all of your coleagues, he will not take you in the court, maybe he will be a little bit offensive, but you don't have to be intoxicated everyday trying to do your job..

Its got nothing to do with Human Rights, and I do wish people would take the time to look them up so they know what their rights actaullly are and to prevent people spouting off when its not appropriate.
As for your situation, its very unfortunate, however, the manager does have to be careful as he could be subject to an harrassment suit, a completely different issue, and one that would be dealt with via an Employment tribunal not a human rights court.
At the end of the day, speak to your colleagues, and get one of you who is brave enough and diplomatic enough to approach this person and deal with the problem, the guy maybe is not aware of his own body odour, nothing unusual there...deal with it sensibly and get off the PC/HR aspect

Yes, Human Rights, rubbish. If the man is smelling that bad then it is the managers responsibility to address the situation, he is just opting out! There may be more to his body odour problem, trouble at home, depression etc. A very delicate subject that must be dealt with.

Your co-worker could have a health condition causing his odor. Fungal infections (Candida) can have that result.
Do you have a Human Resources department (Personnel Department)? Ask them how you should approach this (possibly unaware) co-worker, or if you should leave it to them. Go over your manager to his manager if you don't have a HR department.
You are entitled to work in a safe working environment. If the odor is being caused by a health problem, the company does not want the hassle of other employees contracting "it", and thus filing workers' compensation injury claims.

And what about the rights of the people who work with him.In actual fact it has nothing whatsoever to do with human rights, your manager is afraid of confrontation thats all.If he cant do it and say to the guy dont you know someone who can and remember there are ways and means to get a message across without being offensive

If you do not want to confront this person then write him a letter or send him an e-mail from an anonymous yahoo account explaining that his body odor is offensive and everyone at the office would appreciate it if he bathed more.

Check your employee handbook and HR manual, there is always something in there about hygiene and company policies, this means your manager is within his rights to say something, In a discreet, nice way....
If this fails leave the handbook open on the hygiene place and put it on his desk or you could leave subtle hints for him... All else fails, write him an annonymous letter... Usually works

He probably doesnt realise.
So talk to him as a friend and show some respect. He's less likely to take it the wrong way if he thinks you're being a friend and not nasty.
