I have been sick for over a year now. I keep going to the doctor with no answers they keep treating the immediate problem and I am starting to think there is more of a major problem. Possibly Fibromyalgia. I have body ache, pain, disturbed sleep, exhaustion, stiffness when I wake up, tingling in my hands and legs. I know I need to see a Dr. I just want to know more about the disease and if there are any treatments to help it. Thanx Bunches!!!

Aka Renards Disease. Anyone that also has it.. what do YOU do for it? I'm always freezing in winter. I've tried everything I can think of, I'm trying to find new ideas. What do YOU do?
(Renard's syndrome is when your extremeties turn into popsicles for no good reason b/c you are dressed properly and warmly)

I have a severely swollen ankle since September. They won't go down. It's so bad if you press it in it stays dented in for over 30 secs. The pain is so bad, some days I cannot walk. It burns and is excruciating. Then my shoulder joints started hurting and will not stop. Then I started having painful muscle spasms in my back. I can't lie down for the pain, but I'm so exhausted. I don't have any energy. The pain in my back shoots around to different areas. Sometimes down my thighs, legs. I can't stand to be touched anywhere, especially around my rib area. I'm always cold and get sore throats a lot. The doctor couldn't find anything wrong in the bloodwork and is sending me to a rheumatologist, but I have to wait a few months to get an appointment. He says he thinks it sounds like fibromyalgia but can't confirm it, the rhematologist will have to see me. I am trying to find ways to cope in the mean time. Any suggestions?

My brother-in-law smokes inside his closed room and the smell spreads to the living room and in the hallway. My one year old is just learning how to walk and his play pen is located in the living room. I'm worried that the strong odor might affect my son.

I have been in the military for 7 years and have now been found out to have a jacked up carotid artery. Which doesn't allow oxygen to flow as it should to my extremeties making it difficult to run. I have been on a profile for about 6 months and have done the walking apft and do that quite well and haven't had any strokes or anything since I started not running. I think I should get a permanent profile for walking the apft and run at own pace. However the vascular surgeon wants me to have an operation that will unclog my artery but regardless it will clot back up because of the way it is. It is web like. So even if I get it unclogged it will clog back up sooner or later. My question is how do I get a permanet profile or should I get the operation and risk having a stroke during it which seems to be a chance of happening. Also will this condition allow me to stay in the Army.

I am able to do a little running but not anything long distance. I still can max my pushups and situps and do cardio but I can't run hard for a long time anymore. I am 25 years old and fully plan on staying in until or past 20 if I can. They would do the op at FT. Sam Houston in San Antonio.

My mother is a relasped alcoholic. My dad became an Al-Anon facilitator after her original recovery over 15 years ago. I've learned alot about alcoholics, the "disease" , dependacy and co-dependancy, hating the disease and not the person. But Im just plain tired of letting her "disease" be her excuse for everything. No one is holding a gun to her head. She is repsponsable for all of her actions. She chooses to drink, the alcohol doesn't drink her. Its like blaming the liquor store for selling it. Im just tired of hearing "blame the disease," "Its not her. Its the booze." My dad helps a lot but sometimes it easier coming from someone outside the situation.

My uncle, who is a recovering heroin addict/current methodone user is currently under anethesia at the hospital for double pnemonia. While there, his liver has shut down, and his kidneys have begun to as well. I asked the doctors if they were giving him methodone and they said they were giving him something else that worked like it. I don't believe them though. I'm wondering if it's possible that his situation has gotten worse due to methodone withdrawl combined with being under sedation. I might also add that they took him off the sedation medication almost two days ago but he has not woken up yet. They said they give him small doses of it now apparently. He would also be going through alcohol withdrawl. Could these factors have some sort of significance as to why things have gotten worse?

I know the nature of this question might be gross, but I'm wondering if I should go to the doctor. For the past two weeks, I've been urinating and passing blood in my feces. I'm not sure why. I'm wondering if maybe I just have an internal sore or something. I'm hoping it heals, but if it doesn't, what could be the cause of this? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Still they do not know why this is happening. The CAT scan showed no acute stroke...they are doing an MRI tomorrow.
He is aggitated and confused.I try to comfort him and most of the time he just wants to be left alone. This is not like him at all.
Stroke?Dementia?Infection?
