Renal Failure is where the kidneys fail to function

i.e. they don't filter the blood properly to make urine - either not filtering the blood at all (hence making no urine - anuria) or to a lesser degree (less urine - oliguria) or perhaps in not filtering properly and letting protein and salts of the blood filter through into the urine in an uncontrolled fashion.

It is the medical term for kidney failure. I don't know the origin of the word. Possibly latin.
