I have been feeling bad for about a week--ever since the A/C broke and we've kept the windows open and ceiling fans on in stifling heat.

Here are the symptoms: Early in the week, my eyes were extremely itchy. That's gone away. Then I developed an intermittent wheezy cough for about the last four days. I wake up each morning with swollen neck glands and produce deep yellow phlegm (that the shower helps dislodge). My throat is scratchy. And I am feeling very fatigued.

Any guesses? (I had mono twenty years ago, but I assume you can get it again just from generally being run down.)

In addition, whenever our kindergartner wakes up in the middle of the night, she seems to believe that something/everything is going to get her, so we have to calm her down. And our cat gives 4 a.m. wake up calls when I forget to lock him out. So there's been inadequte sleep lately.

Thanks for your guesses.

A few weeks ago I suffered with head pressure, lightheadness, neck pain and fatigue for 3 weeks straight. I got a spinal tap and catscan done and those cam e out normal so I took antiobiotics and they ddin't do anything. It went away for about a week and now the past few days I am so lightheaded and with horrible neck pain. It's swollen on the back right side of my neck and my doctor checked it out and reassured me it's not neck cancer. What could make me feel so horrible that even the doctor can't give a diagnosis?

Hi -
I am 42 yrs. old, diagnosed with thrombocytopenia "idiopathic and cyclic (currently at 50 k) here in Spain. I am also apparently beginning Polycythaemia, they call it Poliglobulia(Hemoglobin now 18 (norm to 16) and my hematocrit is at 52 (norm. 50). I also have Hepatosplenomagaly with very elevated gamma gt, ast and alt, but normal billiruben, although the ldh was elevated. The last blood work showed a positive CEA (how much, I don't know) and I had the CA-19-9 at 6 (norm. 0-3). Is that high? They want to do an abdominal and thorax CT scan and a bone marrow test. What could they be looking for? I tested negative for all viruses (hep. a, b, c, and e as well as HIV). My autoimmune exams (anti-ro, ANA, and anti-ssm and platelet antibodies were negative...still pending the anti-dna. I also have psoriasis, and on the HLA antibodies exams I came out with the following:
B27 negative, DR-7 Negative, but the B-5 was very positive (90%).I would appreciate any opinion or ideas out there.

Actually,I'm addicted to laxatives for a few years now and my problem with constipation has gotten so bad that I sometimes feel I can't live like this anymore. I've tried everything I ever heard that could help, seen every doctor that I know of...nothing helps. I don't need advices about food or eating cos I know all about that. It doesn't matter what I eat or how much of water do I drink, doesn't change anything. I need an advice from someone who has had a similiar problem to tell me how to stop taking laxatives? What to do? I feel so depressed, life makes no sense to me anymore....
Thank you.

6-2-07.Well here we go again.I left my appartment yesterday headed for the cleaners at about 12:10pm.Afterwards on my way to get a bite to eat.I saw the first sewage truck about three blocks away it didn't have a tank on it so it wasn't too bad. Before i could get to the next corner it made a left turn in front of me, I could litterly feal my fluids in my body begin to stiffin.I walked three more blocks, there i saw another sewage truck with the tank attached moving slowly through traffic. The much stronger stench permiated the air, with no where to run.As my fluids hardened even more,i felt the seringe sharp stabbing into my brain.I felt this fealing thousands of times since the implant.According to the season i knew severe weather would be born,I Also knew i had to watch the forcast when i got home.I arrived home at 2:45,& watch the news at 5:00,there was Tropical storm Barry.I've felt and watched the same sanarieal, sometimes with deadly results thousands of times with know one listeni

How can I tell if it's viral or bacterial?

It's around one tooth, and the tooth is healthy. My gum is red and sore with some small spots of translucent white over it that change day to day.

I think it's been there for like 4 days now? The area affected has grown to include the part of my inner cheek that's touching it, but it's still a relatively small area.

I don't know if this is gingivitis or some sort of cold sore that's *in* my mouth instead of on it or what. It's never bled (making gingivitis less likely?) and it doesn't look anything like thrush.

If it is viral, what can I do to make it go away faster?

My best friend has a disorder called PICA. For those of you who don't know pica is an eating disorder which causes you to eat non-food items, her item of choice is toilet tissue. The thing is she is really worried that it is affecting her period. She has told me before that her period is irregular but now she says that it is crazier than normal and is staying for a month and a half to two months. She dosn't have health insurance so she hasn't been to the doctor yet. I just wanted to know if anyone could help me because I am really getting worried and I'm hoping that there is nothing seriously wrong with her insides or something. So can someone please help me out........

I had carpal tunnel surgery years ago, and I thought it was a build up of scar tissue in my wrist. It is burning and tender to touch, and swollen with a small thickened area where you would check a pulse. I'm letting my doctor know Monday. Just want to know your thoughts.

I drink between 30 and 60 12oz. American beers each week. I have, as of yet, noticed no ill effects (aside from the occasional hangover) and am personally satisfied to continue this course aside from a lingering suspition that I may be harming my health in the long term. I have read/heard many reports of liver cirrhosis being caused by alcoholc consumption but just as many of heart disease being cured by the same medicine. Has there been a study supporting the postulation that non-drinkers live longer than drinkers? What do you think?

My 4 year old has an ear infection and complains about pain, and that she cannot hear my voice. She keeps saying "huh" and I have to speak louder for her to hear. Is this situation permanent ? Do ear infections cause permanent or temporary hearing loss ? Can anybody share their experiences with their toddlers in regards to hearing and ear infections.

She suffers from plantar fasciitis (with the pain of past surgeries that never worked too) and now found out she needs a pacemaker in the next 2 years... or well.... yeah. She has been waiting for social security to approve her for well over a year. I'm scared to wait much longer, I am only 17 and I don't know what I can do

Free health clinics... anything... any ideas?

What type of natural remedy can be used for dealing with a large fibroid tumor? My mother has almost died because she literally bleed to death (menstrauting heavily for months). She became severly anemic with a blood volume level of a mere 3. Normal is 12. She recieved 5 blood transfusions over a 2 month span. They believe it's all been a result of the fibroid tumor in her uterus. She is trying desperatly to get their insurance company to cover it but they are jerking my parents around calling all of this pre existing and saying they wont cover a dime for any of it including the bills already. My parents are already 100,000 in medical bills. They will not cover the surgery until Nov. of this year. What can be taken naturally in the mean time to help her not have the severe pain and bleeding. Her stomach is so bloated she looks like she's 5 months pregnant. She always has pain and she always bleeds so bad. I'm worried so badly about my mom. Someone help please!!!

A few months ago, I noticed that my shoes would get tight in the afternoon. I realized my feet was swelling but it was not really that bad. Lately the swelling seems to be getting worse as it gets later into the night. What can be causing this? Is there anyway to alleviate this?

Woah! Have you ever seen that before? It's just like white jellyfishes with thin tentacles that're approximately 3 cm long. The "head" stays afloat and the tentacles are underwater.

What should I do with them? Can I make money with polyps? Is that rare? Or should I just run to the doctor?
