TB is a disease that infect many people but not many get fully affected, because TB require something called cell mediated immunity to protect you from it. some people who develop clinical TB has weak cell mediated immunity.

When you say you have Tb you need to know, Is it a dormant (sleeping) infection like most people (espcially those from developing countries) If this is the case you need to do nothing. it will get active if you get AIDs or uncontrolled diabetes

but if you have an active disease, you need to get a four antibiotic theraby for 6-9 month. usually TB is cured by this treatment

That guy on the british plane have a strain (type) of TB that is resistent to many antibiotics, so they are worried if that strain spread Will have a TB that can't be cured by regular medicine. but so far that strain is rare.
Usually it is illegal to allow you work if you have active TB that can infect others, but if your TB is dormant you can have a very normal life. the question is have you been tested for TB in Sputum (spit) if you have TB in sputum they will quarintine you but if you don't you can work without a problem

Well, aside from being a lucky Sorry-sap of a guy; you're one that flew over the cuckoo 's nest. You're not contagious when you were undergoing the TB treatment course of INH and Rifampin. Nevertheless, you shouldn't have been allowed to work in a restaurant. But as a dishwasher; you were not exposed to contaminate the public.

True, you might have contracted it in the Salvation Army if you were exposed to all their expectorants and hemoptysis with the acidfast bacilli.(Mycobacterium Tuberculosis) The incidence was not in Vancouver. It was in Montreal-New York border.

The criminal was trying to sneak back into the US via Canada. The dumb inspector ignored the alert warning to detain the guy because he appears "healthy" .

I'm not a doctor but a nurse with vast experience of taking care of pts with Tuberculosis. It's good that you acknowledge that your command of the English language is atrocious. However, i hope you do try to continue improving it. It makes for easy comprehension.

And stupid is a harsh word. I don't think you'd appreciate to be labelled as one............ ditto. You have to show more progress in the twelve yrs; you have been here.

Things have changed since 1995. Security for travelling now is very, very strict.

The doctor respondent is erroneous in stating that TB can be cured. It can only be ARRESTED. And it's true, positive Tuberculin test or Mantoux. elicit a cell-mediated immunity ( T-cells or lymphocytes) or delayed as opposed to immediate response in an antibody-mediated immunity ( also called humoral immunity) such as an allergic response to a bee sting. However, it's evident he has little experience and knowledge of the disease process. Tuberculosis just like genital herpes have latent or dormant stage and active stage wherein the disease can be highly infectious or communicable. or contagious.

So, to say that it's okay for you to work even with TB (dormant type- no such banana) is irresponsible. Also, i was vaccinated with BCG as a child; so my Tine Test always comes back positive. Not that I was infected or had had the disease. .What is a developing country or even third world? TB is mostly prevalent in tropical countries where healthcare is poor. .

The person who is now quarantined with the TB has a particularly virulent and drug resistant strain. It is a special bad type.
