I have been feeling bad for about a week--ever since the A/C broke and we've kept the windows open and ceiling fans on in stifling heat.

Here are the symptoms: Early in the week, my eyes were extremely itchy. That's gone away. Then I developed an intermittent wheezy cough for about the last four days. I wake up each morning with swollen neck glands and produce deep yellow phlegm (that the shower helps dislodge). My throat is scratchy. And I am feeling very fatigued.

Any guesses? (I had mono twenty years ago, but I assume you can get it again just from generally being run down.)

In addition, whenever our kindergartner wakes up in the middle of the night, she seems to believe that something/everything is going to get her, so we have to calm her down. And our cat gives 4 a.m. wake up calls when I forget to lock him out. So there's been inadequte sleep lately.

Thanks for your guesses.

sounds to me like an allergy. I'd go to the doc and get checked out.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!

The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!

My guess would be allergies. Since the A/C broke, you've been exposed to outside air all night, every night.

You have a child of kindergarten age. They come in contact with lots of other kids, and there's always some kid sick with something. He/She will come home with those germs, and exposes it to you.

Lack of sleep will leave you very vulnerable to any infection, especially ones that your child brings home. However, I still believe that your problem is allergies. The symptoms you've described are textbook examples, and the fact that it coincides with your exposure to outdoor air tells me that all signs point to allergies. This year, at least on the east coast, has been a very bad year for that.

Hope you feel better soon! Get the A/C fixed!! LOL

sounds like severe allergies to me, but the phlegm could be a sign of bronchitis, do you smoke? If so it could possibly be a result of that to. you might try visiting a dr to get a proper diagnosis

Allergies would be my guess too, but best to go see a doctor to be correctly diagnosed.
