I changed my eating habits because I moved from my home country and every now and then I get constipated and there is a light red blood on the toilet paper.I mention that it only happens sometimes and ONLY when I am constipated.(no other symptoms and it happened like 4 times in 5 months)could that be serious or should I just take care of my eating habits?

Constipation causes slight tears in the rectum. You need to be taking a powdered fiber supplement, metamucil, first thing in the morning and last thing at night. This is going to relieve the constipation and keep you from tearing the tissues. Also use preparation H suppositories whenever you have blood as this will help heal the area and take down the inflammation.

Constipation can cause bleeding, however, there are other conditions that can cause constipation and bleeding as well.
When there is a sudden change in bowel habits, you should see a physician. In the mean time, eating more fruit and vegetables or adding a fiber supplement may help.

If it's blood ON the stool (or on the paper or in the bowl), I would guess that it's hemorrhoids and straining. A little blood after straining and evacuating might mean you've slightly torn the tissue at the sphincter while passing a hard stool, or that you've had to do so much wiping up after a soft stool that you've irritated the tender skin to the point of bleeding. Blood in the bowl, or a lot on the toilet tissue, would be more of an indicator of hemorrhoidal issues. You probably wouldn't see blood IN your stool (unless you make a practice of breaking it apart and examining it) but that would be an indicator of more serious problems in your lower GI tract.

Constipation can cause this. Hard stools and/or straining can cause tiny tears that may bleed. You might try a stool softener like Dulcolax and see if that helps.
