I'm about to have my Thyroid removed on the 26th March 2007 and i'm really scared about it. I've never been in hospital before so I don't really know what to expect. I've had my Thyroid for nearly 3 years now and it has been a terrible journey. I started with an overactive Thyroid then it went underactive then overactive again and it's been up and down all the time which makes me feel horrible. I'm so used to the mood's and the feeling ill that i'm wondering if it will change once I have had my Thyroid removed. Would like to hear other stroies from people who have had their Thyroid's removed and what they feel like now. Please help, i'm so worried....

As a note, I am taking synthroid, but have never had an issue with night sweats before (even when on synthroid).

I was on estra test & then estrodiaol + methyl test. (so I could control the ratio) for several yrs, initially, after my hyst. because my libido was at zero & I had "homicidal PMS symptoms". I now take 3mg (but 3.5 is better) estradiol--I've tried many times to reduce this amt. Any less than 3 & a miriad of symptoms return. I've been off the testosterone for ~5 yrs because of cost & doctors are reluctant to prescribe. I really need something, my poor hubby hasn't had a decent lay in over a year! (which is not to say I haven't "taken care of his needs"--albeit, less than monthly.--poor guy, he's 12 yrs younger than I & well...) I've had some kickass health issues for 3-4 months & on-off for yrs. & he's thoughtful about not bringing up sex then. Now that I'm feeling better, my libido has just barely awakened enough to know it's not enough. I do light to moderate exercise, I eat reasonably healthy, I'm 12-15 lbs overwt.(at 5'8") & labs are good, w/cholest. a tad high. Ideas?

I am 20, I have had extreme nausea for a little over a year now the best way I can describe it is I feel like I am pregnant (I am not) foods, smells, drinks every thing triggers it I have seen my family doctor several times and has had me try every medication I have ever heard of(priloset OTC, Prevacid) nothing has worked I have seen a Stomach doctor they gave a colonoscopy and tried to give me a endoscopy several times (this has been three times now) I keep becoming combative under so they cant look at the in side of my stomach. Has anyone heard of this or know of anyone with something similar?

Anyone had it? How was your experience? How painful was it? How soon did you return to work? How did you look after it was done (bruising, swelling)?
I am going to have it done in about 8 weeks, I'm nervous but looking forward to being able to breathe like a normal human being.

I have read that certain children's immunizations are "multi-packed" in one syringe. The preservative used is mercury based and can cause autism. My grandchild is due for her DPT, and I am very concerned. Any thoughts or advice?

My 13-yr old step daughter's doctor told her she "has to get" the HPV vaccine. I told her dad (my husband) that it's not required and I think it's a bad idea, due to the potential health hazrds on the brain and that she already is taking meds for bipolar. What does everyone else think? And, please if you know for sure whether it's required or not, let me know or provide links to finding out.

3 months ago my index finger on my right hand started to twitch, from the knuckle up.
Not all the time, but oftern.

It is worse now as this twitch now involves both my index fingers and both my thumbs.
Again, not all the time, but very oftern, and enough to worry me.

My fear is this is only going to get worse and I want to know what it may be.

I'm thinking diabites and plan to see a quack soon, but does anyone have any thoughts .....

why do people in the medical field think they can just be RUDE and not want to help. If you can't deal with the public in a good manner I think the medical field would be the worst job for you especially when someone is dying. This is not to ALL because I ran into the nicest nurse who wanted to help out and tried his hardest so I know some of you are good Thanks but to the rude one get a different JOB!

Is there some cluster of lymph nodes there? I would not think that an immune reaction should be painful.

By the next day my immune system always wins, though I might wake up with a head ache or the sniffles. Other pre-illness indicators might include a mild fever and/or a "static" feeling in the lungs/chest.

I have had and continue to have great swelling and pain in my left foot. I got some exams done and these were the results of the CBC.

I also had a Lupus (SLE) Analysis done and the Complement C4, Serum was high, & the antiparietal cell antibody was high as well.

What is going on with me?

I lost some hearing in my right ear, and also seem to have an overly sensitive (painful) response to certain pitches. My audiologist suggested I get a hearing aid that will a) help with the loss and b) block certain pitches. (I used to keep a balled up reciept in there to block them. :-/) How much is a basic hearing aid for a small amount of hearing loss? Thanks!
