It was added to my current health issues when I saw a neurologist last week. The doctor saw things that weren't normal on a head CT but no one would tell me what. I guess they're waiting to see MR results.

What do you do if you are dairy intolerant and still like to eat dairy? I take Lactaid and it doesn't really seem to help that much. I've heard eating yogurt can help, does anyone have any other suggestions?

My mom has been getting Remicade (infliximab) infusions for rheumatoid arthritis for about 4 years now. Recently she's showing signs of memory loss, and severe mood swings. Has anybody out there ever taken Remicade, and if so, what were your side effects? How long have/did you take it for?

i understand that insomnia is difficulty either falling asleep, staying asleep, or with early waking. moreover, it is divided by how long it is a problem, the least being a few days, the most being three or more days a week sometimes.

my problem is not being able to sleep at all for as much as sixty hours, it is this way all of the time and has been going on for months now. is this still insomnia, or something else?

i've heard of things like sleep centers and sleep studies. but i don't know anything about them. is this something i could explore with my particular problem? what would it involve? how might it help? any information would be extremely helpful.

He told me today - it's about 15mm round and gristly and sore. It hurts him to touch it. It appeared apparently a day or so ago. I'm taking him to the doctor as soon as they can see him, but I can't sleep through the worry of it. He's nearly 11, as thin as a rake, so the lump is quite obvious on him. Has anyone out there heard of anything similar?

if my stuttering is comming back. When I was little I stuttered, and the doctors said I'd get over it when I got over and I did. But now I'm starting to stutter again. It's so embarassing, and no one knows what I'm saying. It's becoming a problem. And it seems to disappear whenever I complain about it. What's going on?

My dad is 83 with advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He uses supplemental oxygen most of the time. Last year, a neurologist diagnosed him with “mild cognitive impairment.” The Dr. feels it could be connected to COPD, since my dad’s bloodstream has less-than-ideal levels of oxygen, hence, his braincells are not getting as much oxy as they need. I think this is called hypoxemia (vs. hypoxia, which is total lack of oxy).

I’ve researched a bit on COPD-related mental decline, and it’s definitely real. My question is: how well do dementia drugs (i.e. for Alzheimer’s) work in a case like this? The doctor prescribed Aricept (classic Alzheimer’s drug). He didn’t promise anything, but said it’s worth a try.

I’m not sure if it’s helping. I know there are stronger Alzheimer’s drugs, one being Namenda. If anyone's familiar with COPD/hypoxemic cognitive decline, I’d love to know more. My dad seems worse recently. I wonder if he has an age-related dementia on top of the COPD?

My son just got his Dennis Browne Bar and shoes and he completely hates them. He cries and can not sleep in them! He's supposed to wear them full-time right now, but he really isn't getting used to them. Are there any other alternatives?

Apparently, I had ringing in my right ear because my eustation tube (sp?) is clogged. Dr gave me meds for it, and I'm feeling better. He also reccommended a Ear Nose Throat Specialist, and I have an appointment on the 2nd of March.

Suddenly, my mom started talking about surgery and I got upset, and started to cry because I hate Drs. Even though I've had a surgery before, I just get scared of dying on the table. My mom said I might need surgery to get tubes, even though i've only had one ear infection this whole year.

Anyways, when I go to the ENT what will he do? And if I need surgery.. how should I handle it? Because I burst out into tears everytime I hear something I don't like. :(

I get recurring sores inside my nostrals, they can be very painful and last for about a week at a time. I don't know what is causing them or what I can do to prevent them from coming back. They always come in the same spots every time, the innermost sides of my nose. They can crack and bleed at times. There can be about a month or so between them. Any ideas?

We were given very limited instructions after my husband had laser surgery to prevent further tearing and detachment of the retina monday. The instructions were simply no sports, no horseback riding, nothing that would jar your head, and no contacts for the first week.

Husband is worried about lifting our 30-35 lb toddlers, and is afraid to put eyedrops in his eyes for relief. I think these things would be ok sinced he wasnt warned against them. Does anyone know?

I'll be looking for a better list of do's and donts online now, but would be happy for advice from experience.
