I hardly have any sugar and have restless legs every night when I sit down. I have had this for years and it runs in my family but only with the females ! Yes, it drives me mad and seems worse when you are tired and especially when you get it both legs at the same time !! I still have no idea how to solve it.

There is no known cause for RLS but coffee or any stimulants taken in the evening will make it worse. Research has shown that, although there is no lack of iron in the blood, that there may be less iron getting to the brain in RLS sufferers. There is also a possibility that RLS may be linked to a fault in the central nervous system. RLS is fairly common and research is still in the early stages. My GP has prescribed Ropinorole (I think that's the spelling) which is for treatment of Parkinson's disease, and it is a real lifesaver as I suffer from quite severe RLS. I just take one pill about an hour before bed or sometimes with dinner to stop me getting it when I'm trying to relax in the evening. I have not suffered any side effects as yet.

I'v wondered the same thing. I drink coffee all day, and have a spoon of sugar in it. And also suffer from the restless leg syndrome. But, I think they would say that if it did. So, I'm not really sure. Sorry.
