My 8 year old sister was treated for chicken pox a few weeks back. After almost one week, she started having fever followed by pain (aching kind?) all over her body. The pain is severe, according to her, appears at any time, persists for some 5 - 10 min at max all over the body and then disappears. She doesn't have any rashes or any iching kind of pain, but it is an aching kind of pain, which once appeared can't be relieved by any means, other than just 'suffer and wait' until the pain subsides on its own.

We consulted a paedriatic surgeon, she was given cefixime and ibuprofen. Fever has subsided, though the pain persists now also.

I am deeply upset, and adding to it, my elder sister (15) also has started to get the same kind of pain.(she had already got chicken pox in her child hood). We r really sad,as once the pain appears, there is nothing we can do to relieve the pain, neither a muscle massage, nor any thing helps.

Please tell me what it is all about.... Please help...

My son is 3 and a half, at that age they give them the flu shot in 2 half doses 1 month apart. After BOTH shots, he got a nasty, lingering bug, with cold like symptoms (runny nose, congestion, and cough). The nurse told us that there is no way for the shot to make him sick because there is nolive virus contained in the shot. My aunt also got sick the same way, and her nirse/doctor said the same thing to her. So are they lying? Why are they both sick, and can anything be done to prevent this short of avoiding the flu shot in the future? What exactly IS in the flu shot?

We have a family member that was diagnosed with MS about 2 years ago, and has had very severe Optic Neuritis since her diagnosis and I was curious if there are "optic nerve transplants".
Also, if anybody knows, what are some remedies to either help with the actual neuritis or the symptoms from the intraveneous treatment (weakness, nausea, etc...)
Thank you

There are thousands of different strains of the cold virus. Does catching one make you immune from the others, while it lasts?

On Wed. I took my son & I to the doctor because I had a sore throat (quite bad) & he'd had a fever the night before & in the morning. They took swabs of my son & my throat & it turned out negative for an infection. Anyways, the fever went away but my son has been sick since..not eating etc. On Sat. we took my 2 year old son to emergency b/c he had swollen gums with white spots on them & white spot on his tongue. His mouth looked infected. He was diagnosed with herpangina (common virus among children, foot & mouth one I believe). I was also diagnosed with it (I had a white spot on my tonsil area but it was mild). Anyways, today my son's mouth seemed to not have improved so we took him to a walk-in-clinic to get a second opinion. The doctor wasn't sure if he's got an infection or a virus in his mouth so he prescribed an antibiotic. I want to start giving it to him tommorrow morning but I'm wondering if it's safe if he doesn't have an infection & it's a virus. HELP!!!
