As long as they keep the wound covered and wash their hands frequently there is little chance of transmission.
If everyone would just wash their hands frequently the transmission of staph would be miniscule.
The whole MRSA hysteria has gotten completely out of hand.

If you have any would put a bandage on it. Wash it with soap and water daily.
If it begins to look infected : increasing redness, warm to touch and increased pain. SEE YOUR DOCTOR.
Oh and did I mention washing your hands.
It is asinine to relocate people away from the individual.

Staph infections are not easily transferred. Normal care can prevent spread. And Staph can stay in your system for years and not be active and if you immune systems gets compromised the staph will grow. You co-worker may not have even caught it at school. A lot of people are carriers and unless they deposit blood or infections on something it will not transfer. A lot of doctors are carriers, a job related circumstance.

BUT IT DOESN'T HURT TO BE CAREFUL. I carry sanitizing disposal towels with me when I'm going to a public places so I can wipe off things, especially the toilet seat.

Depends on the severity of the infection...if anyone in contact is immune compromised...how many people the infected person came in contact with.....were the surfaces and other areas cleaned immediately?
If you are healthy, and in the practice of good hand-washing, I would think your chances of infection are low...
However, I would call my Dr...let them know you were exposed and see what they recommend.
