My 2.5 yr old daughter has had a fever for the past 7 days ranging from 100-104 degrees. We've been giving her tylenol which brings her fever down. Her doc also prescribed antibiotics which did absolutely nothing for her which leads me to believe she has a viral infection, not bacterial. She has no other symptoms although she did have pink eye a couple of days before the fever started. I'm not sure if there is any association with the pink eye or the fever or if it's coincidental. Anyhow, I'm concerned about her fever lasting so long, especially when no other symptoms are present. Any advice you can give about this is much appreciated.

If the flu virus is constantly mutating, then why do we get the flu virus only once a year and not constantly everyday?

If it is because our body's immune system is weaker during the cold winter month. Then why do we get the flue only once and not through out the whole season during winter?

Also, why don't two, three or a dozen different variations of the flu virus go around at the same time?

Thank God the flu doesn't work that way even though it is constantly mutating. But I'm just wondering why this is so?

I have recently been diagnosed with MRSA. I've had it for awhile, but it was very mild until recently. It's now quite agressive.
I met with an ID for the first time yesterday. He put me on Rifampin/Bactrim combination therapy. I understand Rifampin is primarily used to treat tuberculosis.
Do you know anyone who has tried this therapy, and if so, what was their experience? Side effects? Did it help? Have they had more outbreaks since completing the therapy?
Also, I am looking for people to speak with about MRSA. People who have been through it themselves or with someone they love. I'm having trouble getting registered for the only forum I could find (yes, I wrote the admin... no reply yet).
Any responses are appreciated. Thank you!

I have come across information to the fact that AZT is no longer in use in the USA yet in South Africa it is still being used to reduce mother to child HIV transmission. I would like to hear from scientifically informed people on the efficacy of this policy choice.

I went to the doctor yesterday (Tuesday). He said I have severe strep throat, post nasal drip, sinus infection, and the flu. He prescribed Amoxicillian and Flonase. He told me to take tylenol and ibprofen for the pain. He also told me that after 24-48 hours on the meds I can go back to work. So far, nothing is working (I have been on the meds for around 30 hours). The pain is still bad and I even have a "hairy black tongue" from the amoxicillian. Should I go back to work as a teacher tomorrow or wait it out another day? I still cringe when I swallow and am still running a low grade fever.

Everywhere I look, everyone says not to worry if it's MRSA. They say it's treatable or that antibiotics will help. But on the news it says that it's not curable and that antibiotics don't help. What's the truth?
