3 It describes the interesting case of a nurse, working in a hospital in Den Bosch, who remained MRSA positive, even after treatment with various antibiotics. Here follows a translation of a statement by the bacteriologist, A Leenders, contained in that article: "One of the nurses, on her own initiative, suggested to the specialist that she should have her tonsils removed, because it was suspected that the MRSA resided in this organ. At the time it was uncertain whether the operation would change the MRSA status of the nurse. After the tonsillectomy, tests showed that the health worker had become MRSA negative. This indicates how far people will go. They have chosen to work in health care and they do not allow a bacterium to interfere with their vocation". I find this an altruistic attitude, but it does raise the moral question whether health care workers should undergo medical treatment with its inherent risks of complications, for the sake of the patients in their care?

What little and often forgotten things can be done (cleaned) in the home to limit the spread of unwanted organisms? For example, cleaning doorknobs - a commonly touched object in every household.

My daughter is sick. It started with fever on sat. and mon i took her to the doctor he said she had a ear infection and maybe some sinuse infection. All the simptomes where nasua vomiting and fever. well he gave her some antibiotics and some decongestante well yesterday (wed) she still had low grade fever and some nasua so i took her back well she being 15 did not want to go and said she felt better so he sent her home and told her to go back to school today. Well I sent her and she had to come home sick with low grade fever and nasua and she has been very tired so the Question is how long do i wait for her to get better bfore i take her back to the doctor or to a diffrent one?

One of my close friends was diagonised HbsAg positive about five years ago, then he was advised to go for HBV DNA test which came as negative and his LFT is always normal, we have searched the vast ocean of internet to interpret the situation but failed to comprehend any thing from it. Can any one on this forum enlighten us to save him in case he is in trouble or to give him a new lease of life, if he is already safe from dangers of getting killed the killing HB.

Over several years, I've heard that there is a belief amongst uneducated South Africans with HIV that sex with a virgin will cure AIDS, and hence there has been a virtual epidemic of child rape, and subsequent HIV infection. Is this proven, and if so, in how many documented cases; or is it simply an urban myth?
