Is it a serious medical condition?

I am 48, so not what u call young.. I know it's not from kissing or we would all have it.

It is also known as Mono Epstein Barr virus "Kissing disease". It is very prevalent in teeanagers and young adults. It usually goes away in about 8 weeks or so. Google it, you learn alot about it.

Epstein Barr is the virus that causes mononucleiosis. Mono is a self-limiting disease which you will get over like the flu.. It is known as the Kissing Disease because you can catch it from someone by kissing BUT it is more commonly spread by fomites, inanimate objects like forks, spoons, or cups which haven't been adequately washed.
