Why is it bird flu (H5N1), is not passable from human to human, but only between birds and humans? Why can't a person down with the bird flu spread it to other people close to him? After all, the germs emitted from him is in the air.

She is almost 6 yrs old and has had fevers ranging from 104.4 to 99's. Sometimes no fever. Her only other symptom is stuffy nose. She is drinking a ton of fluids. We switch off Tylnol & motrin every 3 hrs. Can a Flu really last this long? She has no other symptoms. I got her 104 fever down with a tepid bath and motrin. My 3 year old son and I got it after her. The school said a viral infection is going around.

Last Thursday my stomach began to feel crampy, then a few days later i got a sore throat, and then couple more days later i got a stuffy nose and a cough and i have a little bit of phlegm. Now i have all of the symptoms including some nausea too?

Could this be strep throat?

I started taking antibiotics for strep throat about 4 days ago and am feeling much better.... I however gave my girlfriend it and she just started taking antibiotics this morning.... the doctor says that you are no longer contagious after 24 hours of antibiotics.... but will i get sick again if i go and see her? since i am taking antibiotics already... and it's probably the same strain of bacteria?

I have had IBS for the past 7 years - I take meds for it but sometimes symptoms flare up pretty badly - but never this bad. I had diarrhea from Sunday morning until Monday night, mostly in the morning, but I don't know if it was just IBS or if it was a virus. It was bad, I couldn't eat anything for 3 days minus a little bit here and there. My hisband kissed me and drank after me the entire time I was sick and didn't catch it - what do you all think? I never get sick like this, and I didn't have a fever, so I kind of think it is just another IBS flare-up...

How different are the two group of virusses, too different? Would the challenge to the immune system in a healthy adult also increase the immune response to other diseases (we've been arguing whether it helps or not, it shouldn't really, but one person says since he is getting flu shots every year he hasn't had a cold)

I have been home ill now for 11days doctor not sure what it was probable virus, now on penicillin and feeling much better but still coughing .I want to go back but dont want to upset anyone especially a diabetic who works there .what would you think ?
