I started taking antibiotics for strep throat about 4 days ago and am feeling much better.... I however gave my girlfriend it and she just started taking antibiotics this morning.... the doctor says that you are no longer contagious after 24 hours of antibiotics.... but will i get sick again if i go and see her? since i am taking antibiotics already... and it's probably the same strain of bacteria?

yes. it is not something that you build immunity to.

You don't become immune to strep after it gets better like a cold. But if you're both taking antibiotics at the same time it's very unlikely you'll catch it back! Your body normally has a small amount of strep in it anyways without having an infection. Unless you have problems with recurrent strep throat you should be fine.

Yes especially if your immune system is supress by i.e stress or other disease. Also your girlfriend has different strain of strep throat so you might even get a different kind of strep throat.

You are currently taking antibiotics so you will not get it now. But for the sake of good common sense.....don't kiss her when you see her.

Duhhhhhh! There's good news and bad news. The good news: Go see her. You will probably both feel better. The bad news: Keep your distance, and wash your hands thoroughly after your visit. Common sense would say you won't get it at this time, but rational thinking would say, WHY CHANCE IT?!?!?!?!?!

no you won't get it back since you are already on the antibiotics, but don't you think since you gave it to her you should get it back. Lol
