I work at a doctor's office. There is no medicine to get rid of the flu, so going to the dr. would be a waste of time and money. The only thing you can do is rest. Drinking fluids will prevent dehydration and Tylenol or Motrin will reduce your fever and ease any achiness. You will just have to let it run its course and your body will fight off the infection on it's own.

The flu is a virus therefore there is no cure. you must get lots of rest in order to allow your immune system to fight the virus off naturally. your immune system develops antibodies that destroy the virus. there is a specific anti body for every virus you have ever gotten that is why you do not get the same flu twice each time you get a different strand be case the body already has the antibodies to fight off the infection. If you rest and let your body fight it you will be better soon enough. you can treat the symptoms of influenza by taking ibuprofen (Advil) and Tylenol for fevers and body aches

Plenty of rest and fluids. There is no one thing that can take away the true flu...it just has to run its course. Flu shots are a good preventive.....
Hope ya feel better soon!

There is no way to get rid of the flu quicker without going to the docs office to get tested for it and getting a prescription. Your best bet is to drink plenty of liquids and get lots of rest.

If you are under 18:
Hot lemon and honey in water with plenty of bed rest.
If you are over 18:
Whiskey in hot water with brown sugar (leave the spoon in the glass or it may crack!). Cut a slice of lemon and force five or six cloves into the lemon and drop it into the glass.
Two of those will knock you out and you will awake refreshed!

Rest, fluids (water, ginger ale, fruit juices), aspirin or Tylenol several times a day, and time.
There is no quick fix.
