If you have been on the penicillin for a few days, any infection should be almost clear. Once the course has finished get yourself back to work. You may have a cough for weeks from the increased phlegm production due to your airways being irritated by whatever you have had.

Don't go back untill you have stopped coughing and spreading your virus around. This is the reason there is sick pay to compensate you for when you are ill. Any good manager will tell you not to go back in an attempt to prevent the remainder of the staff going off sick with the same virus.

If you want to go back to work, and have not gotten rid of your cough, call your doctor and ask to be given a stronger cough medicine.
It should go away after you finish all your antibiotics unless you are still with whatever you got.
Just make sure you clean up your work area everyday.

They prescribed me hydrocodone cough syrup and it worked like a champ. I have a mild cough after being with the flu for like 7 days.
