My daughter is sick. It started with fever on sat. and mon i took her to the doctor he said she had a ear infection and maybe some sinuse infection. All the simptomes where nasua vomiting and fever. well he gave her some antibiotics and some decongestante well yesterday (wed) she still had low grade fever and some nasua so i took her back well she being 15 did not want to go and said she felt better so he sent her home and told her to go back to school today. Well I sent her and she had to come home sick with low grade fever and nasua and she has been very tired so the Question is how long do i wait for her to get better bfore i take her back to the doctor or to a diffrent one?

Sometimes the antibiotics can make people nauseous. Infections and colds can make them very fatigued as the body is using its resources to fight the infection. Give the medicines time to do their jobs (48/72 hours). If fever is below 102, just continue to give tylenol or other fever reducer to make more comfortable. make sure she eats, even lightly to help w/ nausea. ASK the Dr. or clinic under what circumstances you should bring her back...ie adverse symptoms. Good luck!

She has a sinus and ear infection so why would you keep taking her back to the doc. It needs to run it's course and will take time. Give her the meds the doc prescribed and give her lots of liquids. There is no need to run her to the doc just because she is nauseated and has a bit of a fever. With all of the colds and flu etc going around she has caught it and now just needs to let it run it's course. Do not give her meds for the low grade fever unless she is achy as this is your bodies natural way of fighting off the infection. If she is not better in a week then take her back but until then let the drugs start working and leave the doc alone for a while.

The body can handle fever for 7-14 days before it begins to shut down. Let that be your guideline. Is she on an anti-biotic . Sinus infections take about 10 days to go away when treated with proper medications. As for the fever, her immune system has probally been severely weakened because of this sinus infection and therefore unable to fight of the fever. When the body is fighting off an infection, fever is its way of cooling itself down. I assume her normal temperaturw would be in the 98-98.5 F, as long as she stays below 100 F, and she is on the anti-biotic, I would not worry too much about it. If you would like a second opinion with another dr, that is up 2 u. If she still had fever from 10 days after the anti-biotic was prescriped. I would take her to another dr. It is flu season after all. so she is not the only one.

If it's an ear infection it can take a long time to go away. I had 1 recently that took 3 weeks of antibiotics to go away (I have allergies to antibiotics and they had to give me less effective ones) and the pressure from the infected fluid in the ears can cause nausea, but don't wait too long b/c ear damage can be caused by ear infections, I still have ringing in that ear.
Also, speaking from experience: I have never heard of a low grade fever accompanying a pregnancy.

Give it afew more days before you take her in again. It takes awhile for the antibiotics to kick in and the fever is just her body's way of fighting off the infection.

What expectations did the doctor set for you, and when did the doctor say to bring her back?
Usually the doctor will prescribe medications & say "She may still feel a little nauseous & tired for a few days....if it doesn't get better after # days, give me a call."
Also, did he mention any side effects to the medications he gave her?

Give it until tomorrow. She may just feel down from the medicine, or being 15 she might be overdramatizing the situation to get out of school. If it gets worse, go to the doctor and if it doesn't improve over the weekend, go back.

You are the adult, take her to go see a doctor as soon as you can. I understand that your daughter is only 15yrs old and might not want this; but it is better you know what's up or risk the illness getting worse.

I hate to ask this but could she possibly be pregnant? those are the symptoms and if the antibiotics havn't taken effect they obviously are not working, usually they begin to take effect within 48 hours or less.
