You put leftovers in the fridge to avoid it getting bacteria infested. (You do the same by covering it with salt). Then that means that bacteria can't survive in the cold...So why is it that in winter, we are enveloped with colds, flus, runny noses, and other sicknesses??

Humm, not sure which one is true:
-Hearing loss associated with OM is always conductive and temporary
-Hearing loss during OM may adversely affect cognition and language

Both are NOT true, apparently. Thanks.

I'm going to stay in a university for the next 6 months where I will share the toilet with 6 people. Some practical advice from your own experience would be really helpful! Thank you!

Please give me a detailed biological response. We know Penicillin and its derivatives attack the cell wall's peptidoglycan and stop the trans-peptidation reaction, and that tetracycline and all the other "-in" attack the ribosomal subunits and stop bacterial protein synthesis, but how does acyclovir (cyclovir, etc.) stop viruses?

Currently, my entire family is ill. We have gone through about one month of various symptoms. I'd have to say that of all the illness's I've experienced in my life, this is THE worst of them all.

We started with a cough. Then a chest cold. Then it started to clear up, but moved to the head. The nose clogged up, and was runny at the same time. Sinus drainage began, and then fever that would spike and break repeatedly. Finally that went away and the sinus stuff began to clear up. But then it moves back into the chest, and you cough until your throat is raw. Your glands in your throat swell up, and this dry sensation begins to sting you and cause you to have a painful cough. Then it moves back into your head and clogs your ear tubs, so you loose partial hearing. Then it attacks your eyes and turns into something similar to pink eye, but it's not itchy... just waters a lot and goops up - turns red. It hurts a bit like a sty would, but the tear duct is clear. Very confusing. Anyone else??

Yes... I'm ill... have the cold/flu real bad.. This is my first day back at work and feel rotten... Have had it for 6 days now... This is the first time I've been out of bed for 4 days... Can't use my legs anymore (I'm convinced they are not mine and I have someone else’s by mistake! lol)
I have the worst cough ever... Have been using so far: Lemsip max strength capsules, then paracetamol and ibuprofen when ran out... on Strepsils lozenges and using Vics Sinex to keep me breathing... but at the end of my tether now... usually have shaken it after 3days but no such luck this time...

... What works for you, out of interest that I could maybe try that I haven't already??

Help much appreciated...

Happy New Year to all by the way!

xx
