unfortunately yes! i personally have had chicken pox five times. All cases were in childhood, but some people never build up an immunity to this virus. In adulthood, it can manifest as shingles.

it just depends on your bodies ability to build up antibodies to this particular virus. I hope you don't have them again.

There is a new vaccine for chicken pox, if you think you might be at risk as an adult, ask your family doc about it. It is recommended for all children to have this vaccine. I hope this helps. Blessings to you!

Yes, I have had chicken pox 2 times in my lifetime and I am only 18. I have also had mono neucleosis twice and doctors say people usually only have both once in a lifetime.

I agree with Sherry. You can get them more than once if you only had a light case. Two of my kids did. If you're not covered in pox, you only had a light case and you'll be vulnerable to get them again. Or when you're older and exposed to chicken pox, you might get shingles. Either way, it's not fun. Yes, you can!! I am walking proof, and I have the pictures to prove it. I asked my microbiology teacher why I was able to get them twice and he told me that most that get them more than once did not get them bad enough for their body to build up a good immunity to them. Same thing for vaccines...some people get the chicken pox after being vaccinated.

yes, but usually no. It doesn't happen often and when it does its rare to get them again. once is normal. twice is common. three times is near impossible.
