Humm, not sure which one is true:
-Hearing loss associated with OM is always conductive and temporary
-Hearing loss during OM may adversely affect cognition and language

Both are NOT true, apparently. Thanks.

it would be more accurate to say that Hearing loss associated with OM may adversely affect cognition and language

it is a form of conductive hearing loss

it is not always temporary - when the ear drum scars after multiple drum perforations the hearing impairment can become permanent

if children have multiple drum perforations and subsequent hearing loss from this, their cognition and language acquisition can be impaired - however this is not so much of a problem only during the (relatively brief) time frame DURING the OM infection itself
