Yes. Usually the Health Provider you see may say it is viral and they cannot do anything about it. BUT it is very catchy...bacterial or viral.
So take care of yourself...plenty or rest, warm fluids, maybe tylenol if there's pain. But quiet life and rest will help.

many are passed by coughing, sneezing or touching a contimated object then your face... of course direct contact such as kissing too.
most sources say after 24 hour on antibiotics your not contagious for bacterial infections... but viral ones... depends on the particular virus.
warm salt water gargles 5 to 6 times daily will help sooth and minimize the infection.
if persistant... see a doctor.

Yes they are. My boyfriend has a throat infection at the mo and I feel terrible but won't allow him to kiss me until it's cleared up. He look so hurt but the last thing we need is for both of us to be sick at the same time. Poor thing.

Depends. Tonsillitus is not contagious, but if you have had your tonsils out you may have bacteria in your throat which could be passed on.

Hey!! You wanna be careful!! I had a sore thraot which turned out to be a really nasty infection and abcesses in my tonsils (OW!) They put me in hospital and I wasn't allowed anyone near me who wasn't masked up - I would say that that IS defo contagious!!!!!!!
