Please give me a detailed biological response. We know Penicillin and its derivatives attack the cell wall's peptidoglycan and stop the trans-peptidation reaction, and that tetracycline and all the other "-in" attack the ribosomal subunits and stop bacterial protein synthesis, but how does acyclovir (cyclovir, etc.) stop viruses?

Acyclovir is given usually for treatment of herpes virus infection. Acyclovir is actually acycloguanosine. When it enters an infected cell, it is converted to acyclovir monophosphate by the virus encoded thymidine kinase, ie the viral DNA produces the thymidine kinase. Then cellular kinases furthur convert this inot Acyclovir di and triphosphates.

The triphosphate acts as a competitie inhibitor for viral DNA replication because when the DNA polymerase replicates the viral DNA, the acyclovir triphosphates get inserted into the chain as well. This prevents the DNA polymerase from going forward, ie, it gets inhibitited.

Therefore, viral DNA synthesis is reduced, and viral replication is reduced. Acyclovir should be give as soon as possible so that the infection can be controlled.

I got diagnosed with genital herpes (type 2) about five years back, when I was still attending college and had a dumb one-night stand. I understand a lot of girls will declare this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/4XpyZ everything got better.

Not only was I able to eliminate all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to begin dating once more. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This system gave me back the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the World.

Have you looked at a PDR? Or asked a Pharmacist? One or both would know.
