2 days ago I had a severe panic attack for the first time. I was feeling as though I was having a heart attack, or dying. It subsided within 2 hours and I was left with a pain in my chest and difficulty breathing. Now I have not been able to go to sleep, as soon as I start to doze off, I get a bad pain in my chest and need to gasp for air. I literally didn't sleep at all last night! I made a doc appointment for day after tomorrow but it is starting to feel worse. Should I go to the emergency room?? Is this just panic attack or worse? Any help/ suggestions would be appreciated. I am 21 and haven't had any previous heart trouble.

Ok, I was told several years ago that I have mitral valve prolapse which accounted for the slight chest pain I was having at the time (I was 24). I cut down on the caffeine and smoking and it seemed to relieve it for the most part, except for the occasional slight pain, which I attributed to the smoking. For the past few months, I have had much sharper periodic pains, which I have thought to be MVP related (I am almost 33 now). The only difference from before is that just to the left of the center of my chest is very sensitive to the touch, and almost sore (not continuously, just for a period of time after the pain), and seems a little more 'stiffer' than the right. My question is, could this be MVP related or something else perhaps? Thank you for any insight.

Today we found out that my little sister has a heart murmur. She has been athletic her entire life and is going to state in track next year as a freshman. I was just wondering if she will still be able to participate in track and cheerleading. If anyone has any input about this I would love to hear from you. Thanks a lot...

to add to this I know by doing research online that it's not panic or anxiety attacks, or stress.

Unfortunately I was able to go with her but my mom did. She doesn't understand English that much. This is all she understood. The cardiologist said she has a 2 inches (Atrial Septial Defect) hole in heart and they have referred her to another cardiologist in 2 days. Is she going to be ok? Is the surgery that they are going to perform dangerous? Please Please Please help!

I have a holter monitor on right now, and it has been stating that my resting pulse is between 48-56.. i am 25 with slight MVP. Nothing else. My mother has CAD at 46.

I noticed though that the numbers jump up and down fast cept when im resting and it stays in the 50's.

Can this be nrmal?

I have a TLC holter monitor where I recrord any symptoms and send it in over the phone. Can this be a little incacurate in taking the pulse? because I can yawen and my pulse will jump to like 110, but 5 seconds after that go to 50bpm

im just worried because while I am sitting idle, it goes to 49-56

No symptoms now; stress test 2 years ago was normal. Should we question going straight for angiogram which has more risks--shouldn't we try a less invasive test like MRI or CT scan first?
