MY brother came home sick wednesday and finally today we got him to go to the ER. He was having serious body cramps last night. I have heard from the hospital that he has had a possible heart attack and CT scan is showing a density close to the heart and Aorta?

He is a Vietnam Vet and has COPD.

I know this is very little information but is there anything you can tell me about this?

He is also getting blood tests every 6 hours tonight.

Thanks in advance.

My brother has high blood pressure and had a stroke at the beginning of the year, and then a couple of months he had a very bad car accident. The doctor's told him he was border line diabetic, as well. My question is this, does he really need to be taking 3 blood pressure meds? One of the pills he takes makes his leg hurt very bad, and he doesn't know which one it is. I have told him to go talk to the doctor, but it's a money issue with him. He really can't afford the visit and doesn't have any insurance.
The following is a list of the meds he is taking:
Metformin--Diabetes 2 med
Enalapril--Blood Pressure
Spironolact--Blood Pressure
Hydralazine--Blood Pressure
Metoprolol--Heart
Plavix--Stroke Med

My resting heart rate was 80-90 BPM, and my heart rate would go up just doing simple things. I was pretty sedentary for over a year, due to the fact that I spent the majority of it pregnant with my daughter. I wasn't in wonderful cardiovascular shape in the first place, though.

Now, I am not overweight (still within a normal BMI, although I have a few pounds to still shed from the pregnancy). I succumbed to smoking again after the pregnancy, I eat a good diet, and drink plenty of water.

I also had a normal EKG and blood enzyme test. I don't think that there's anything wrong with my heart (those tests would have shown it if there was, right?).

I want to know when I'm going to start feeling better. I've maintained 120-130 BPM during moderate cardio exercise (brisk walking about a mile and a half a night). I hate walking up a flight of stairs and getting out of breath!

I suffer from High blood pressure and high cholesterol what would be a good and safe workout in regards to weight machines and cardio machines. What should i push my heart rate too if my resting heart rate is 89 bpm. What percentage of my max should i lift?

aspirin to control my blood pressure. My question is about the side effects because lately I have noticed some itchy rashes in my body. Is it caused by taking losartan and atenolol at the same time? What are the other side effects of taking both medicines at the same time? I am now in the process of contacting my doctor through my wife but since I am working in a remote area, it might take some time before I get back an answer. Please help. Thanks.

...drive to the emergency room right now. I'm alone in the house, but my cousin is next door. It started when I had a cold glass of water as soon as I came in from work two hours ago, I've been told that could cause it. I can't think of anything else to do but drink some alcohol, here's the catch. I'm having a moral issue with it because I'm a recovering addict and NA recommends I don't use alcohol even if my thing used to be cocaine not alcohol. I've been clean for over two years, but I have had a drink here and there, and have been able to stop without going on a bender. So I guess the question is will alcohol ease my heartbeat, or at least relax me? How much should I have? Rum, wine, what? S#it! If it's going to help put my heart back in gear I don't really have any moral issues but stay alive. Please help.

Hi Guys-My mother in-law lives an hour and a half away. She has had 2 heart attacks, a stent put in her neck to avoid a stroke, has mild mental health issues and can not get out of the house to tend to her needs. She can no longer take care of the dishes, wash, etc. How does the state and/or medicare decide if a nursing home is right for her or not?

She does not have any other physical disabilities such as an inability to walk, etc. She lives in Southern NJ just outside of Philly.

Any sites, advice, etc. would be a huge help.
