Aya,,, you don't have to be scared about having high cholesterol. But I will suggest you to stay away from the prescription medicine, for high cholesterol, ALL of them destroys your liver.
A liver cleanse will do very good to your overall health. I do this liver cleanse once a year.

If possible, use only olive oil for cooking.
Kyolic Garlic, Omega3, and red yeast will lower your cholesterol naturally and effective

High cholesterol increases your risk of heart disease, which can cause heart attacks. It can be caused by a number of things - bad diet, lack of exercise, drinking too much alcohol, and a family history of heart disease. It also tends to rise with age.

Ther is 2 things that can be done - one is change your lifestayle, that includes eating foods with little saturated fat or cholesterol in and exercising more. (There are also some products which supposedly help lower cholestral, like benecol and flora pro activ) In more severe cases the 2nd thing that is done is you would be prescribed cholesterol reducing medicine.

You need to make another appointment with your gp to talk through what you need to do, or if you go into a surgery or clinic they should have information which they can give you. Try not to worry, this is something you can control with the right changes =)

Saturated fat is the main dietary cause of high blood cholesterol. Saturated fat is found mostly in foods from animals such as beef, beef fat, veal, lamb, pork, lard, poultry fat, butter, cream, milk, cheeses and other dairy products. Foods from plants that contain saturated fat include coconut, coconut oil, palm oil and palm kernel oil (often called tropical oils), and cocoa butter.
High cholesterol causes high blood pressure. The best thing for high cholesterol is Losing weight. A plant-based diet in conjunction with a properly conducted fast, most often leads to a total recovery or a vast improvement in hypertension and angina.

Diet has a very small part in it as most is produced in your liver and you don't have to be fat to have it If you are already diabetic or over the age of 50 the doctor will usually put you on stat ans this is a drug to reduce the amount of cholesterol you produce in your liver and a 70mg aspirin tablet once a day to thin the blood It will benefit you to cut down on full fat dairy produce ect but don't worry to much if your young as this is a warning at a good time in your life

Exercise, eat more Vegetables. Cut the fat off any Meat you're going to eat. Don't go to Fast Food joints. Drink lots of Water every day.
The most important of these though is Exercise. Find something fun to do... like Karate, or Fencing, or joing a Softball team. It doesn't have to be boring jogging or Gym work. Exercise is supposed to be fun, and done every day. Try Mountainbiking, or Hiking in the Woods.

I'm really sorry to hear that, You get cholesterol from the foods you eat and from your liver. Your liver makes most of the cholesterol your body needs. you should change your diet try not to eat foods with too much saturate fat like beef, pork, veal, milk, eggs, butter, and cheese. Many packaged foods contain saturated fat such as coconut oil, palm oil, or cocoa butter. You will also find saturated fat in stick margarine and vegetable shortening. Cookies, crackers, chips, and other snacks usually contain partially hydrogenated vegetable oil or trans fat, which can raise cholesterol. exercise more... dont feel bad youre not alone hun.. good luck!!!!!

Cut back on foods that are high in cholesterol. Add oatmeal to your diet as well as more fruits and veggies. Certain supplements can help you also. Reishi tea and grapefruit pectin powder can help lower cholesterol.
