135/85 does not qualify as high blood pressure

Most doctors would commence intervention at a systolic of >=140 mmHg (the top number) or a diastolic (bottom number) of >=90 mmHg

First intervention would be to eliminate salt from your diet. Medication would be something to try after that.

The new goal by the American Heart Association is to keep your blood pressure below 120/70. High blood pressure is very dangerous today. It can cause cardio vascular (heart problems)
stroke, kidney problems, impotence, eye problems and many more. It can happen at any age. Go to Walgreen's and they have
a free blood pressure machine, or buy one and monitor your reading daily for a month. Bring this into your doctor to get it evaluated. My Husband was put on blood pressure medicine for running 150/88 for a few months.
Good Luck and many years of good health

American Heart Association has now made the recommendation that people maintain their blood pressure BELOW 120/80 for optimum health. Keep taking your new medications. Be aware that the dosage may have to be adjusted in order for your doctor to get you in the range he wants. It is good that you have started treating this so you can prevent problems down the road.

Saturated fat raises cholesterol and is found mostly in foods from animals like beef, pork, eggs, butter and cheese. Plants that contain saturated fat include coconut, cottonseed and palm oil, and cocoa butter.
High cholesterol causes high blood pressure. The best thing for high cholesterol is Losing weight. A plant-based diet in conjunction with a properly conducted fast, most often leads to a total recovery or a vast improvement in hypertension and angina.
