I had a small procedure done today and the nurses and doctors were concerned about my resting heart rate before the procedure it was 52bpm after the procedure 48bpm I was told that, that is low and I should be going to my GP and having further tests done. I am wondering if this could be the cause of my constant fatigue? Has anyone else been through this? What could be causing it? I do exercise a lot and have noticed on the machines that my heart rate doesn't go up as high as it used to.

Hello,
Someone I know went to the emergency room with a blood pressure of 190! Is that possible? What could cause that blood pressure? What is the best way to treat that? How do we prevent the blood pressure from increasing again?

Someone close to me requested an ambulance as they said they had fibrillation of the heart. I doubted them and thought they were just having a panic attack, and all that was needed was a bit of a rest. Anyhow I did call an ambulance and off to hospital they went. But I still have my doubts.

I look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibrillation and I have no clue, what, why, when and how.

Anyone care to make this easier to understand?

Thanks in advance.

I was having symptoms of a heart attack, went to have EKG which was fine, labs, echocardiogram with stress test, and chest xray to rule out cardio problems. No problems except for high bp and cholesterol is borderline high. I am a smoker trying to quit. I was put on xanax for anxiety and it helps alot, but I will have to go off of it in a month. Is there anyone who can give me any advice.
Thanks

I have had aortic valve re-placed in 06, (bovine ) still have anginia on a daily basis, however the pain i have had the past couple of days is a tearing, ripping pain off and on during the day. only last a few seconds, and i noticed it is when I am busy doing house hold chores (making bed, etc) It scares me a little because I know it is direct pain inside the heart. I am not fond of calling the Dr. for every ache and pain so I am useing the " wait and see appraoch" is my way of dealing with this for now.Is it possible for the valve to tear and thats what I am feeling?

If you have what you think is severe acid indigestion, could this be the sign of the onset of a heart attack? How can you find out for sure? Many yrs. ago, my paternal grandfather died of a heart attack ---- he thought it was just acid indigestion --- but it turned out to be the onset of a heart attack. He had no chance to find out for sure --- not too long after he had the sensation in his chest --- he died --- the very same day.
He was only 51 yrs. old and I never got the chance to know him.

Anyway, that's what got me to thinking about it. I really would like to know the answer to this. I'll check on the net but I was just wondering if anyone out there had any thoughts on the subject.

Thanks.

I was reading a book, totally relaxed and kept feeling this sinking feeling in my chest and then I would feel the need for a deep breath. Once or twice would not have alarmed me. This went on for about six hours. I checked my pulse to see if it was my heart and it was. It would stop...and the lurch and then beat normally again for a little while. Sometimes it would do it two or three times in a row and then it would be five minutes or so and it would happen again, never waiting longer than about 10 minutes between. I got up and got a shower at one point thinking that might help but I did it in there too. Circulation was good, extremeties were warm and I was in no pain. What was that? Should I be concerned? I have felt it since but not to that magnitude.

I work at a pharmacy and there is one of those blood pressure machines that I use often to check my blood pressure. Usually, these are the results:

Diastolic - 140
Systolic - 75
BPM - 55

I know that a healthy blood pressure is 120/80, so the 140 concerns me. Is that too high, and should I see a doctor? I am 21 years old and in otherwise good health, exercise regularly and follow a moderately healthy diet. I do eat too much sodium, and I know that's something I need to work on.

My grandmother has very high blood pressure due to my good for nothing mooch of a sister causing her so much stress. What is considered a deadly blood pressure level? What is considered stroke level blood pressure? I'm so worried my grandma will end up dying because of my stupid sister.

The doctors have decided on replacing one of the valves in his heart with one taken from a pig. He's a WW2 amputee who is ridiculously physically healthy and mentally sound. Two weeks ago his lungs were drained of fluid that had built up, and we've been told that his heart has only been working at 1/3 capacity,.
