Dizziness can be caused from your blood pressure running too high, from an inner ear disorder called labrynthitis or general illness. Have you had your blood pressure checked since you started feeling dizzy? If it is running high, you need to call your doctor and he may have you take an extra dose of your blood pressure medication and then have you come into the office to have it checked tomorrow. Sometimes, your blood pressure can climb even though you are on blood pressure medications that have kept your blood pressure under control before this occurred.

It sounds like the dosage is too strong and there's hypotension (drop in blood pressure). You feel dizzy because the oxygen isn't being transported efficiently and you're brain's lacking it. Tell your doctor.

The doctor will either decrease the dosage, change the medication, or tell you to stay on the medication since some need a short while before the patient gets used to it.

Did they check for orthostatic hypotension? They have you lay down-check B/P then sit up-check B/P and finally stand up-check B/P to see what the differences are. Many times B/P meds cause dizziness as a side effect, and sometimes it is just upon standing. Either way if it is still making you dizzy the doctor can try you on a new med. There are MANY to choose from. Have him find one that works for you and doesn't have those yucky side effects.

...most dizziness felt with BP med administration is caused from orthostatic hypotension or an abnormal drop in BP when moving from lying to sitting or standing position...some BP meds are notorious for this and falls along with injury may be associated...you should report this to your physician as your BP check should be taken lying, then sitting, and third standing to assess the degree of pressure fall when moving from resting position...you may very well need a change in med regimen.......joz....

Blood pressure meds can indeed have dizzy side affects (especially when standing quickly). You should report it to your doc though, just to be safe.
