1. Reduce stress. Chronic stress will burnout or weaken your adrenal glands. Under stress, especially chronic stress, the body over-excretes adrenaline and other stress hormones. These hormones cause the small blood vessels all over the body to constrict, which is why doctors and dentists, when they don’t want a tissue to bleed while they are suturing, inject Adrenaline in the area. Constricted blood vessels – and these are the small vessels, capillaries, not the coronary arteries – choke off the blood flow and hinder the removal of the wastes, predominantly acidic waste products. If this continues for many years and is exacerbated by increased demand like exercise, then the heart cells can die or become infarcted.

So be kind to your Adrenal Glands. Since the adrenal gland, specifically the adrenal cortex (the outer portion of the adrenal gland), also produce hormones that protect the heart (digoxin and ouabain), an important strategy in protecting yourself against heart attack is to strengthen the ability of this important gland to work properly.

How do you be kind to your adrenal glands?
- Avoid stimulants such as caffeine and related substances in coffee, tea and chocolate. Caffeine causes the adrenal medulla (the inner part of the adrenal gland) to produce adrenaline. In response, the adrenal cortex must produce a host of corticoid hormones that bring the body back into homeostasis. Repeated jolts of caffeine can lead to adrenal burnout, a situation in which the adrenal cortex is unable to produce the myriad of protective and healing substance for the body.

- Don't try to lower your cholesterol - our adrenal glands produce these hormones (digoxin and ouabain) out of Cholesterol!

-Take cod liver oil for Vitamin A The body needs vitamin A to make all the adrenal cortex hormones from cholesterol. Vitamin A intake should be balanced with vitamin D (from cod liver oil) and vitamin K2 (from the fats and organ meats of grass-fed animals).

- Don't consume Trans Fats (from partially hydrogenated vegetable oils). Trans fats interfere with the enzyme system needed for the production of adrenal cortex hormones.

-Take care to avoid low blood sugar. When blood sugar drops too low, the adrenal glands go into overdrive to produce hormones that bring the blood sugar back up. This means avoiding sugar and not skipping meals. There is just no substitue for three good meals a day, at regular intervals, which contain adequate protein and plentiful amounts of good fat.

2. Don't eat excess carbohydrates (like sugar or high fructose corn syrup). This will keep your insulin levels normal. Chronic high insulin levels seems to do a lot of damage to your body.

3. Eat small amounts of cold pressed polyunsaturated fats. Avoid commercial liquid vegetable oils, like soybean oil, canola oil, cottonseed oil, which are full of free radicals that can damage your body.

4. Again don't eat Trans fats (partially hydrogenated fats) These are fats that have been damaged.

5. Eat more whole foods and balanced meals - a nutrient dense traditional diet with pleny of healthy fats like butter, tropical oils, olive oil, marine oils..etc.

6. Do MODERATE exercise.

7. Don't Smoke! Smoking has been shown to primarily affect the small capillaries and small blood vessels.

Try to stay away from processed foods as much as you can. To many toxins, and damaged fats.

On a different note...Hey you might like the theme from the movie "The Summer of '42" soundtrack. You can listen to the sound samples. http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6885043
