Take your pulse and count the beats over a minute ...if its below 150 u should be ok just try to relax...if its over 150 since you've been awake call 911 and go to the ER, u may have a heart arrythmia u need to have checked right away.

Rest till yu feel good to drive. a cardiologist visit is in order. Take the option of taking a Thallium Myocardial perfusion scan that measures the Functionality of the heart verses an angiogram that will show blocks for sure.... but if the heart is functioning within tolerable limits... you can and mist aviod surgery/invasive treatment.

Ideally, get help at home for a few days.

We, prescribe pranayama.... deep breathing; abdominal breathing to gain quick relief. It also increases oxygen intake and helps the body cope better with lack of oxygen if your heart function is hampered.
Control Diet as much as possible. Depending on where in the world yu live and your lifestyles, there are local foods that will help you both support the Blood suger problem as well as your heart.

We dream during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. During this stage, heart rate and blood pressure rise. People often wake as we transition into non-REM sleep, and will note a rapid heart rate.

You may be having a panic attack.
Another scenario is an arrhythmia. You would need to have an EKG to determine this. Perhaps you should call for assistance to transport you to the ER.

Call emerge and ask to speak to a dr or nurse. If you don't get an immediate answer, call 911 and ask them. Better to have a false alarm than a very bad situation.
