I have really bad dizzy spells at school and the nurse checks my blood sugar the lowest its ever been is 25-30 and when it gets that low i feel horrible of course. but today i was feeling a little weird and i went to the nurse and my sugar was 310! its never been that high before. and i drank alot of water and within the next 15 min. it went back down to 130 and after that up and down i have just slept all day with a migrane. should i visit the doctor to get blood work done?

I was diagnosed just 2 weeks ago with type 1 diabetes. I want to get a pump soon. How long do i have to wait before i can get an insulin pump, safely. I would ask my doc, but i don't have an appointment for 3 more weeks.

from low sugar and you saw that nobody noticed, would you tell anybody, or keep doing what you were doing (work/shopping/etc) and figure best to keep your mouth shut so nobody will make a fuss? I take the "keep my mouth shut" approach, but what a scary thing to go through alone. But people do tend to make a fuss and it can get a person in trouble in various situations and relationships.

It would be nice not having to hide this all the time and act like nothing is wrong (I don't have diabetes, just low sugar) but maybe the price that one pays for letting it out in the open isn't worth it. This especially applies if it happens more than once.

What do y'all think?

Well if anyone read that question about someones father in the hospital for bronchitis (devaloped to pneumonia. and a nurse was going to give the man a insulin shot and what would happen, Well I was in the Hospital with pneumonia, the Solumedrol IV 250 mg they were giving me caused my blood sugar to to almost 300 just right before it was time to eat so the Insulin had to be given to me to bring my blood sugar to normal levels, while in the hospital i received several Insulin shots aday so I am still alive no coma, That nurse that give that man a shot had orders from a doctor, so some of those answers form those people don't know what in the hell their talking about,

I've read alot, and heard alot about the islet transplant program, and the Edmonton protocol, but would like to hear the experiences of those who have actually undergone the procedure. How long ago did you get trasnplanted? How many infusions/parcreata were used? How long were/have you been insulin independent? Where did you have it done? Only want to hear folks who have undergone this, NOT PROFESSED "CURES" FOR DIABETES (i.e. pancreashealer, noni juice, herbs and supplements, vegan diets, cow's milk causing diabetes, etc.). If you haven't undergone this, and can't contribute constructively, please do us both a favor and don't answer. Thanks.

I am almost 38 years old, unfortunatley. My grandmother who died of a stroke as she was diebetic, and my mother who has to take insulin all the time has it with complications. I had a blood test last week, but it was not for mu sugar level, it was mainly to check my Iron level, but did not realise they did my sugar as well. I just had lunch and drank soft drink, and had breakfast that morning too. It showed not fasting 4.6. How much difference would it have made if it was fasting in the morning and got it done then? I keep fit and run 4-5 days per week. I am not over weight, and do not smoke. I have good blood pressure, and pulse rate. I do not want to get the disease, even though my family history is very strong. My mother never ran or excersised much even when she was growing up. I had an athletic back ground, and like to go for my 40-50 runs most days. Can I still avoid getting diebetes.as I do not want it. I love eating chocholate excpecially cadbury ones the milk tray ones. Any

Controlled by pills I have always needed a great intake of liquid. I have for the past couple of years taken circa 2 litres of Diet Pepsi per day. I am told that I must stop this in the interests of controlling the diabetes. Other than water what suggstions are there for an alternative.
Many thanks
